Anthonyr8925's WIP Log

I thought that I would start one of these WIP logs because it seemed like the cool thing to do! But really in all honesty I want to display my work somewhere where other artists can see my work and critique it so that I can learn or so that others can see it and I may have the opportunity to teach them! But enough with all of that! Here is my first post, Beast 09 from Warmachine!

Here he is before the majority of the weathering was done.

And here he is after!

The goal with him has been a very military war torn feeling. I strongly believe that a wamachine such as he would not look pristine and shiny during a fight especially when things are shooting at him and trying to hack him open on a regular basis!

Cheers!

Welcome :)
Nice looking mini, I agree that he would look battle damaged and weathered .
I would suggest to tone down the weathering a little next time though, it's easy to get carried away with it at the expense of the paintjob.

I'm not against that amount of weathering. Comibed with that pose it works well. I can see it chugging across a landscape at a decent trot, relentlessly chasing someone while wildly chopping at its target.

I thought I would share some recent work ive been doing on Young Miniatures Scottish Clansman! Let me know what you think. Personally I think the face is a tid to red and i will be glazing it down with a brown green hue to tone it down. All together I have put in about 8 or 9 hours.
Cheers!

Excellent progress! Your bust is impressive, you should work on smoothing more the transition but the overall scheme is really well done. The freehand is good but I would add some glaze to add contrast overall, the texture on the white shirt and the leather are spot on.
For the red face I think it is ok, Scottish + Scotch whisky = red face that's in the theme!

I would first correct the small mistakes here and there, taking the background color...
Then I would take a dark blue (dark sea blue from Vallejo for example) and glaze the shadow few times, I believe that a dark green will work too...
You can firstly glaze the overall surface with a lighter green to give an overall tone and bond the colors together... But the paint must be really diluted and your brush must be moist not wet!
Try on a small surface and adjust if necessary before making it everywhere!
