I first started painting miniatures around the age of 14 and stopped at 17.I've only painted around 30 minis but collected some over the years.Recently eBay got me into collecting them.I really like real part ha and have about 200 unpainted miniatures. So after a break of 15 years I decided to start up again. When I was younger the internet wasn't around yet so techniques weren't to easy to come by bitim reading up.So this is my first miniature I'm working on in a very long time and have a lot of work to do but its coming along interestingly.I'm going to try making the blade molten at the tip.

I have a lot to do.I don't really like the skin tone but my colors aren't the greatest that I'm working with.

Hi mate,

You have a number of choices for darkening the red.

Mixing in some black is pretty basic and will desaturate the shadow areas (make them more grey). This works OK on reds.

You could instead use a deep reddish brown. Would give you some colour harmony.

Or a better a cool brown (blueish tint) creating some cool/warm contrast to your red.

Or use a colour like P3 Coal Black. Its a dark turquoise and will bring in some complimentary colour shading and some cool warm contrast.

I could use some pointers.the hair is basicly all black and i ireally dont know what to highlight

Sorry about double posted pictures I'm on a phone.any advice for highlighting black hair?
And should I use white as a highlight somewhere?
I noticed dark metallic silver washed with a bright yellow turns out nice.
