I\'m soon going to try sell some minis on ebay.
I was wondering if you guys could give me a few advices - mistakes not to make etc.
Knowing that, of course, the quality of the conv and paint is capital.
cheers

very good pics (i made that mistake too many times with crappy pics)

don\'t expect to make any profit as their are loads of painted minis for sale constantly on ebay.
names sell, paintjobs don\'t always.

advertise the auction everywhere, if people don\'t see it, they can\'t bid on it.

lastly, take into account the cost of the model, ebays fees and paypals fees.
it\'s pointless selling for less, otherwise you may as well give minis away and hand ebay a couple of quid.

NEVER title anything \"Pro painted\" :p
As this is Ebay terminology for \"Shite\" lol

Usually, most \"pro-painted\" minis look like they\'ve been dipped in Dulux and then attacked with a paint roller by a cack-handed Parkinson\'s sufferer.

Always use your desciption area - describe various points about the figure here and if you painted it, how.

It can also help to include some stats if it is a gaming mini - or a link for more information about it.

Make the description eye-catching, but not too bright or loud as this can put people off.

My advice for E-bay.

I recently put a painted mini up for sale starting off at 99p it got to £2.00......which i had no intention of parting with it for such a shite price.

So if you can see it\'s not going to sell for a price you are willing to let it go for, get a mate to bid on it. Then you wont have to part with your mini for a crap price.

If i dont care then i just let it go for whatever.

Thats what i do.

@Generul - I believe (Unless it\'s changed) you can only put a reserve for a minimum price of £50...

then people should put a higher starting price.

if someone starts an auction at £1 and it finishes at £1 then they can\'t exactly moan about it as they know from the start that the minimum they will get is £1.

it\'s this reason why prices have plumeted on ebay as many people are willing to make f\'uck all and then moan about it.

cover your expenses and treat it as advertising, anything extra is a bonus.
ebay is one of the hardest ways to make money as you pay for initial goods, spend time working on said goods, then pay a fee for hosting the auction.
you then pay a fee for selling the goods if the auction gets bid on, and to top it off, you then pay a fee to paypal as most people use it because ebay encourages them to (suprise suprise, ebay owns paypal!)

I mean to sell (try to anyway) minis of charactes with heavy conv on them - thinking that most people love having a personal general, chaplain whatever it\'s called.
Is there a better place than ebay to sell??????

I\'m just getting started on-line myself. Watch other people that do well see how many pics they go for. Use this website to give a good idea of what people think of the model (or the pictures at least). As said above its alot of name. Ive seen many good models passed up because theres only one picture or they dont have a studio name. It seems a very hard way (almost not worth it)to make any decent money. Heck the Librarian that took silver in a gold demon thats up today has not even broke 200 bills. Thats insane for the time put into it.

Hi usurpator,

Here is a thread where I asked for similar advice after failing to sell a mini twice.

I implemented some of it on my next sale and got 66 quid :D
