Any bets on the word association?

At the rate that Supervike\'s word association monster is growing it will soon have more posts than any member - including Finn17 and 18 combined!

At the time of writing this there are 843 posts on the thread - it has already passed Dragonsreach and will probably pass Vincegamer (982) and Corvus (987) by the end of the weekend!

This only leaves 7 posters:

Dennismech - (1023)
Kittykat - (1047)
Tuubje - (1230)
Supervike - (1247)
Steelcult - (1365)
Chrispy - (1550)
and of course- the monster poster in his own lifetime - Finn17 - (2510)

At it\'s present state of growth I reckon it will have passed all except Finn by the end of March.

Now given that Finn can post nearly as quickly as all the rest of us put together:D
how long will it take for the WA thread to pass him?

Any offers to run a book?lol:rolleyes:

Hmm, discussing the odds on the thread that will not die. I won\'t run a book on it but I think it will get past finn by the middle of April, if CA or the moderators don\'t drive a stake through its heart first.
lol

Tedious...

It gets my vote for the most pointless and tedious thread ever. Sorry supervike...

Given the culture difference between the posters, half the links don\'t even mean anything to the average viewer.

But then again, I am a boring old fart who probably has no real appreciation of the wit and wisdom involved;)

That sounds hard to believe from someone who sees the intrinsic humour of one of the greatest Greek heros being played by a Sheffield United fan with a broad Yorkshire accent. :D

In my defense, I HAVE started completely interesting and appreciated threads as well... I just can\'t seem to recall what they are right now. But they are out there....

This one, which is neither interesting nor productive took on a live of its own.

I made an apology, and have tried several attempts to squash it, unsuccessfully.

I laughed when it was at 10 pages long, cringed when it hit 20 pages, now I just sadly shake my head at 35....

Please make it stop.

Oh, I take 3 to 1 that is killed by the administrators before April 3rd.

While there are those who are willing to give up their lives for what they believe in, the Word Association thread will NEVER DIE!!!!

All bow down and worship the true thread of threads!

Let all stand on notice, that those who stand in its way will be crushed, as the weight of a thousand posts passes overthem!

WA forever!!!!

What\'s the chance of it stopping growing before it\'s shut down?

Your onto a winner there, if anyone takes you up...

So it\'s a freak now, is it? That\'s pretty odd, but I guess it was unavoidable. People spouting off short replies without thinking about them is one of the most enduring traditions of the internet.

I don\'t think this thing WILL stop. I mean, if everybody posting on it right now were to suddenly get tired of it, there would be another wave as soon as a new poster found it buried under the newer topics and hijackings.

The real problem comes in when the behavior appropriate in that thread bleeds over into others. It\'s like having a party upstairs: The little bit of noise you generally get isn\'t really a problem, but when vomit starts dripping out of the celing fixtures it\'s time to call the cops.

Oh, note that I\'m extremely lenient with threads like this. If they start to interfere with the purpose of the forums -- to talk about miniatures -- I will need to start closing them down. I don\'t really want to do that, so don\'t start flooding the forum with off-topic stuff. (For instance -- I\'ll shut down a second free association thread like this.)

I have no problem with the thread...

What I have a problem with is the Web Site Not Responding message I keep getting from CMON.
I always thought it was good etiquette to ensure that your post was at least as big as your avatar (or signature) but that perhaps stems from the days of limited bandwidth.
Before anyone accuses me of clogging bandwidth myself, I would be happy for every previous post of mine to be deleted if it led to a faster, more responsive site.
Personally, I think that if people want to play immature word games there are more appropriate places than CMON:moon:
Feel free to flame away:bouncy:

There are a ton of off-topic discussions -- why should the line be drawn here? What about the smoking thread? Should that be deleted? (I haven\'t touched it because I have a hard time reading it unbiasedly -- I\'m very anti-smoking and don\'t go to most bars because of it.)
