Any METAL heads out there.

I'm a huge metal head. I mostly listen to Black and Folk metal (going to see Ensiferum and Finntroll Sunday night) But recently I've been listening to a lot of Brutal Death and Tech Death metal bands like Skinless, Deeds of Flesh, Soreption, Spawn of Possession, and Psycroptic. I also really love Finnish Black Metal, bands like Behexen, Horna, Satanic Warmaster and Sargeist. Anyone else into extreme metal?

I will have to check out some of these bands. Never heard of them before! But how can you go wrong with a name like Satanic Warmaster? ;)

Grrr...*jealous*
I'd throw Waylander in that list too.

Oh, I forgot to throw out a couple more names. Bolt Thrower because they're, as far as I know, the first metal band to take entirely from a miniatures game, and GWAR because they look like GW minis.

Love Bolt Thrower. One of the first metal bands I ever got into actually. For anyone who's really seriously into metal, this is a good site: http://www.metal-archives.com/
They've got info on pretty much every "true" metal band, and the forums are great for discussing metal with other metalheads. Some are a bit elitist, but what do you expect.

For Elly and anyone else interested: some links
Ensiferum
Finntroll
Skinless
Deeds of Flesh
Soreption
Spawn of Possession
Psycroptic
Behexen
Horna
Satanic Warmaster
Sargeist

Remember kids: If it ain't metal, it's crap!

I try not to get too lost in definitions. "True Metal", "Tech Metal", "Death Metal" etc. None of those titles help me determine if I like the band or song, and then it sparks arguments between the "purists". I think we all know when a piece is at least a little bit metal.

As for the Metallica/Napster fiasco: The way Napster operated really was screwing over creators. I'm not saying Metallica was right in bringing down the iron f&*!ing hammer of doom, but I'm not saying they were wrong either. Besides, boycotting them seems silly. Your message might have been clearer if you simply downloaded all of their albums illegally.

Wasn't it refreshing seeing a band in court room and not have charges against them for drugs/public indecency/shoplifting? Seeing Lars in there made me do a double take.

I only use genre definitions when explaining a band. If I say to someone that a band is black metal, they'd get a better picture of the band than if I just told them it was metal. It does annoy me though when I see people on forums saying things like 'No! This is TECHNICAL symphonic blackened doom death not BRUTAL symphonic blackened doom death, come on!"

MANOWARRRR...:D... The Best in so many ways... Love them since they (all together with KISS...) are so much over the Top of everything good that you cannot help but be happy and smile when you get to know them a little...:D... It´s the little Details that really make them special (Booklet: "produced... IN HELL... All Songs were performed on the Epic Drumset of DOOOM, All other Drumsets are inferior!..."...

Hehe, I like Bands that claim that they are the BEST in the World... I really find it dissapointing when nowadays people say things like "I really think that you might be the BEST... Band... In the Whole... West... French Guinea... At least in this District... or Street...:)..."... Love it when people simply claim kinda ignorantly that they are the Fukken Best without any legitimation (because they don´t need any...), even if it is evidend that they are not... At least they try...

Reminds me of Big Circus Productions of Old, "Barnum & Bailey - The Best Show In The World!"... Fullstop... Not Watering Down yourself... That´s what´s so rare nowadays... Everyone seems afraid of something... Not so Manowar...:D...

Besides that, Rhapsody is Great, then Dragonforce and some Power and Melodical Metal... :)... Is Kiss Metal...?...

Sweet Metal Hymns

Give me some Behemoth, then sprinkle in a bit of the Dimmu Borgir; blend it with awesome guitar shredding from Children of Bodom before layering it with some smoldering Meshuggah. Add in a pinch of Morbid Angel and never, ever forget the tall glass of Amon Amarth to go with it.

This masterpiece recipe of destruction has been shortened considerably to not sound like a snobby, unholier-than-thou metal head. But I do strongly believe in the right to face-melt, and will exercise this right accordingly and frequently. All forms of metal are appreciated and welcome in my book, as my metal collection spans the length of sinners condemned to Hell. Twice.

My current pleasures are Therion, Sparzanza, Mustasch, Sabaton, In Flames and Amorphis, yeah, most of that list is swedish and sweden-based so most of you have probably not heard of them but you should. And I think I can say that they're pretty 'mainstream' enough for people not into exactly 'that' specific genre to be able to enjoy them.

Oh, and Yuggoth? Van Canto ROCKS! :D
