Any recomendations for minis you had fun painting?

Well, this is definitely a matter of taste question! 
Still, I had a lot of fun painting Gauntfield the Scarecrow (Reaper Warlord line). I also rather enjoyed doing my Scrap Thralls for Warmachine.
(Can you tell I like the dead dudes? )
Do you play anything in particular, or are you just wanting to paint? If you\'re just wanting to paint \"cool\" stuff, you might want to look at the Celtos stuff from I-Kore (if you can find it) and the stuff from Rackham in their Confrontation lines. Both of these have some really interesting pieces.
Edit: Just noticed this was in the 40k forum, so I\'m assuming you\'re wanting something for 40K. On GW\'s 40K line, I\'ve found I most enjoy painting the Orks, since you can get really creative with them. Space Marines just don\'t seem to offer as much potential for things like conversions and wild paintjobs (in my opinion, but, as I said, I like dead guys, and there\'s not much of that in 40K...). I haven\'t done much GW stuff lately, so it\'s hard for me to give a specific recommendation there.

I find I have the most fun painting when you feel like you are \'creating characters\'...imagining their story, why they are wearing certain colors, etc. etc.
Sometimes, I just stare at a bunch of unpainted minis, until my imagination starts creating some sort of identity to a mini, then that is the one I start painting....
Keeping it fun is the key! Good luck!

I had a lot of fun painting the wounded Imperial Guardsman in the command squad boxed set as well as I had a good time converting and painting the General.
Besides this about any tyranid monster is loads of fun to paint, especially if you paint them flaming orange and black (my school colors) like me

For 40k minis... anything that is unique, I have had fun painting.
Getting through ~20 bolter marines that are are all nearly identical (some will have silver helmets) hasn\'t been enjoyable atall... especially when trying to paint them to a high standard.
I had alot of fun painting my Chaplain, and I am really looking forward to the Librarian I bought (it\'s only black basecoated, right now...)

Witchhunters! Especially the guy with the hat in the boxed set. Eldar characters and any grot sculpted by Brian Nelson. I just wish Rackham would fire up a sci-fi line....

My favorite...
I really loved doing my Eldar Wraithlords. They got the big heads that you can do sooo much with, and limbs that are easy to reposition into lots of dynamic poses. I have four in my army and although they all have the same color scheme, they all look completely different from each other. I luv \'em!

The chaos space marine and daemonhunter armies both have a lot of minis in ornate armor. I\'ve always found them fun to paint.
You\'re not being specific here but, for fantasy, I\'ve just finished painting an Iron Winds High Elf General. Quite simple sculpture, but very fine detail and quality, plenty of cloth to practise the layering or blending techniques. Ditto armour and chainmail.
And the face is great, a real sharp tight, slightly sneeringly haughty elf lord. (at least that\'s how my paintjob came out!)
He could even be painted up as a Dark Elf with that face.

I had a lot of fun painting the Reaper Dwarf King #14042 and also the Undead pirate captain #2437
I think that any dwarf from GW is a fun to paint, as they have a lot of character, and also some large monsters as trolls or ogres.
in any case, i may suggest to paint the mini you like more, the one that inspires a story of its own!

Anything Inquisitor like. I had great fun painting up a couple of Inquisitors and henchman groups for witch hunter and deamon hunter armies. You get enough models that you don\'t get bored by painting the same group, but you also get the diversity that you need to keep you interested, Not to mention the chance to conversion crazy and use some of the best models from the various game ranges.

I had fun with a 40k daemon host a while back and more recently with a witch hunter henchman, tho one holding abook in his left hand and a torch lantern thing in his right. I find them suitably dark and devious. I\'d also like to try those sisters penitentia the ones with the chainswords.
