Anyone could advise to me about how to Sculpt a fur and claws?

When I sculpt fur I apply a thin layer of green stuff, then start at the very lowest point (bottom of the tail, feet, the end of whatever direction the fur is going) then use a scribe or a pin to "pluck" the green stuff downwards with very small, 3-5mm vertical "dashes", then I go row by row and build up each layer. So that way when I go to do the next row above it, plucking the putty down makes it overlap with the first row I just did. And using something sharp like a pin or a scribe will keep all the lines skinny enough to look like fur. I covered an inquisitor figure head to toe to create an ice troll. I'll post a shot of him when I get a chance to


Edit: It's a larger scale than what you're dealing with, but looks something like this in the end (no, this isn't my work :p )
