Anyone ever done a "then" vs "now" (i.e. repainting a mini much later?)

Anyone ever done a "then" vs "now" (i.e. repainting a mini much later?)

It's facinating to me to go through people's galleries and look at their older work compared to their newer work; seeing some of the skill progression is very inspiring.

But has anyone ever either repainted a miniature they previously painted or painted the same model, but at a later date? I thought it would be really interesting to see how a person's skill level and style change by repainting the same mini. Are there any examples of this?

I am planning to do this on my Grimgor ironhide, just bought a second model, the only problem is that the new one is in finecast... So the raw material is in a lower quality than the white metal used before.

I could see doing a then and now, but I'd have to paint a copy of the original. I definitely am one of those that likes to keep a record of my work, so stripping an old mini would be destroying the evidence, so to speak ;)

I'm in the middle of doing one now for my Iron Warriors Captain/Legion Praetor, but its also a then and now from the conversion side as well. Hopefully should be done in the next week or so.

I have repainted the same mini (the actual mini not a new one) with a year apart.

That's really awesome; I like seeing the changes in the way you painted the armor and how much more nuanced detail there was in the more recent one. :D

I repainted one of my rackham barbarian some years ago. The same figure but just cleaned from paint. I don't remember how many years there is difference between those. I would say 2-3 years.

Now that's an epic change! Really nice shading on the more recent version. It's giving me hope that time and effort will bring progress :D

Thanks shponglefan, the NMM suits the mini more than TMM imo.

Well I don't know about you Ladies & Gentlemen but I had to look it up lol :bashful::thinking::rotfl:
