Anyone make their own display cabinet?

After so many years of painting minis, I am starting to accumulate a small collection of painted minis (and a few awards as well!) and I have started to look for a small curio cabinet or display case to hang on a wall in my house.

Just wondering if anyone here has ever made their own (if so, care to share the plans?) or if someone can point me in the direction of a cheap ($0-$150 USD) curio cabinet on the net?

Thanks!

Mine was an xmas gift last year, came from Ikea (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/).

They are cheap, but you have to assemble and then finish it as it comes as unfinished, unstained wood.

I know it was under $100 CDN but not sure on the exact price as it was a gift.

You know what - I was actually contemplating doing that - and if so I would, of course share my work with y\'all :p

However, it\'s only an idea at the moment, and I\'m sure someone else better at woodwork than me can and has already done a much better job than I ever could...

Matty perchance...? ;) :innocent:

I\'m seriously tempted to do my own cabinet as the one I had my eye on from IKEA is no longer produced.
I\'m thinking of using a corner space so it\'d have be 5 sided and have storage space in the bottom section.

Looks like I\'ll have to be digging out the Norm Abram tapes.

Norm is GOD!

I have been thinking about making one for some time myself but I managed to get one off ebay with sliding doors and lighting for under a tenner.

Now you guys have ot me thinking about it. I don\'t have the skills for such an undertaking but fortunately a friend of mine\'s husband is possibly the most gifted woodworker I have ever seen. He did the all the cabinets in the house htey built himself, and they are covered in gothic scrollwork and unbelievable router work... I will give him a call...

Lighting in these things can be such a pain... having lights on the top only means the stuff a level or two down isn\'t getting much light at all. Anything with big bases (or Fantasy regiments) kills the light in a hurry. You also don\'t want the minis in the front to be backlit too much or else you\'ll have a hard time seeing them as well.

Things I wish I understood better before setting up my display case and internal lighting :D I still like it a lot though, it\'s just that it could\'ve been better.
