Anyone use EasyFlo 60 casting resin?

Hello,

I got some, and have my lego to build a mould box, and got dragonskin rubber for the actual mould.

I will probably try a mould for the first time next week once some more lego arrives

In the meantime; I've been reading the instructions and want to confirm something. The bottles for easyflo state:

EasyFlo 60 is a super low viscosity, 1:1 by volume, polyurethane casting resin that has a 2 min. working time and a 15-30 min. demold.
----------

So does this mean, the moment I mix the 2 parts (at a 1:1 ratio)...I mix it up and have 2 minutes to pour it into the mould?

Then, the liquid will harden in 30 min? so I can open the mould and be done instead of it sitting overnight?

Yep, you're reading it correctly. You need to mix it and get it into the mould pretty quickly with that low working time, so only mix it in quantities that you're going to use right away (I always tend to overestimate and have a lot of excess wasted).

You're going to have to do a lot of experimenting with how to get the resin into the mold. Straight up pouring it into the mold has never worked for me, so I bought a couple of hobby syringes to inject the resin into the mold. You might be able to get a couple of free dosing syringes from your local pharmacy if you ask nicely.

Also, be very careful when mixing your resin- you don't want to mix bubbles into it. You may want to look into making a work surface (see here) so you can attempt to loosen any air bubbles while the resin is curing.

If you're working with single piece pour mold, then I would suggest getting a piece of plexiglass from your local harware shop. Coat it in your mold release. After you pour your resin, gently lay the plexiglass on top of the mold and press down a bit and gently slide it to one side- this will squeeze out the extra resin and give your cast pieces flat bottoms.
