I use it all the time, both fine and medium work well. Mixed together it is similiar to GW\'s mixture. Take diluted white glue and brush it onto the base where you want the ballast to be. You can do the entire base or put it in patches. Place the mini into the ballast. Let dry. Take more watered down white glue and paint over the ballast... the first layer of glue alone won\'t stick if you just use the bottom layer. Then paint it up however you like... I often basecoat black and drybrush grey or basecat dark brown and drybrush a lighter brown etc.

All the time...

ElfLord;

Use the stuff all the time. I usually use a mixture of fine and medium balast. I\'ve used both white glue (PVA) and superglue to attach it to the bases. I like to build up two or three layers, depends on the thickness of the metal mini base I\'m trying to match. I usually base coat it brown, wash it with very very thin black, then highlight with Snkaebite Leather or another lighter brown color. I usually add some static grass in spots on top of that. I will even do this under some of my snow bases to give the snow more texture and make it look like uneven ground. If you look at my figure 37028, there is medium ballast under the snow.

Cheers,
Grumb

KatieG...that\'s exactly the method I use.

Sometimes I use a slightly different mix for a rockier look to the ground. I mix 25% Fine Ballast, 25% Medium, 25% Coarse, 12.5% Fine *Talus* and 12.5% Medium Talus. Talus is similar to ballast, but it has a more uneven texture...DO NOT use talus by itself on a base...everytime I\'ve tried it looks like crap.

Note: I have a container, and I use a 1 Tablespoon measure for the ballasts, and a half Tablespoon measure for the talus...so you can measure the 25%/12.5% thing easily that way.
