Apple sure make you pay nicely for it too. Oh, and is it still not possible to replace the batteries in iPods?

@Margo
By all means... DO get started!! :]

Um, ok, you asked for it. [rant]

First of all. What kind of a device requires EXACTLY three seconds of keeping your finger on a \"play\" button to be switched off! Try to keep it longer, and it switches off and on again. Fun.

Second of all. What kind of a device needs an unreasonable amount of operations to be connected to a computer via an USB drive! Put the cord into the device, then into the USB drive, and it works fine once. Try it again -- bam! No reply. Soooo, then try attaching the cord to the device first, and only then attach the other end to the USB drive. Yes, it might work, it might not. Fun?

Third of all. iTunes. Mamma mia. Turns on when you don\'t ask it to. Doesn\'t let performing any kind of operations unless the stupid iTunes library stays unchanged in the very same location you left it earlier. Oh no, you moved the files around your hard drive? Too bad and BAM! Your entire library gets deleted. Fun?!

And so on, and so on. [/rant]

Good rant, Margo! Thanks for sharing!! :D

May I just add the annoyance of getting iTunes installed on your computer when downloading a Quicktime plugin for your browser?

EDIT: Yeah, actually your rant made me think of that video! Was even going to search for it, but now I don\'t have to! :D

You could have just mentioned this part:

It pretty much sums it all up.

Oh, and here\'s another hilarious video with an iPod motive in it, but this time it\'s actually making fun of Microsoft graphic designers. Yes, the design of the iPod package might actually be the only thing I like about Apple.

It\'s a conspiracy. As I was ranting, I received THREE press-releases about the newly released iPods!

Just watched the video, thanks for the link Margo, I have never liked Mac\'s at the best of times although people sem to swear by them to me they seem like yesterdays technology at tomorrows price.

That\'s an interesting definition. I\'d say, it\'s a technology that tries SO hard to be different, that it actually turns out to be quite user-unfriendly instead.

Gods bless my iMac 20\". Gotta love it.

With my Mac, my Masonic ring, and some ice cold Coca-Cola (in a can) there is nothing in the world I can\'t do (except maybe get an 8+ on CMoN).

Yep, sorry guys, I\'m in the Mac camp too. Main puter is a 20\" iMac and my G4 Powerbook has been keeping me sane since I got ill.

Can\'t stand PCs. I\'ll never have another one. Viruses, crashes and a horrifying operating system.

As for iPods and iTunes, well I consider the iPod to be okay if a little basic. iTunes is wonderful but I have to say it\'s only wonderful on a Mac. I\'ve used it on a PC and it\'s nightmarish in comparison.

Wow, I\'ve had different experiences of ipod to you guys! I found the system intuative and have had no problems with the software at all (especially the turning off problem :) ). I found the media player on my other mp3 a lot more difficult. The machines themselves are a different matter, on my first ipod the wheel would often stop working, then the harddrive died. The new ones are better though, no problems yet.

Completely different operating system, IMO much easier to use, simple, virus free, and simple to control the \'under the shell\' operations.

Iv my eMac for home use, and a 15\" MacBook Pro for when im on the road and at college/uni.

hehe

iTunes totally messed up my friend\'s pc...however, there is software that allows copying of songs to an iPod without using iTunes so it\'s not that much of a problem if you look around the net a bit :D

Apparently, Apple has finally come to their senses and started devising an iPod software for PC. I wonder.
