For all you PC users of iPods go dl EphPod. It\'s not the slickest prg, but when my hard drive died and lost my 200+ cd\'s ripped onto the computer EphPod reclaimed them from the iPod and I haven\'t used iTunes since.

Wow... I always find it amusing when the things that inspire the most passion and vehemence in people are the things that really matter the least in their lives, in the grand scheme of things.

I don\'t say \"I use a PC,\" or \"I use a Mac.\" What do I use? I simply use the computer with which I\'m most comfortable... and who cares what anyone else uses? ???

another little rant...

I still dream nightmares about Final Cut...

With PC you can most often solve the problems yourself or phone some of your friends: \"Oh.. you need to edit the settings in Regedit and download this patch\" And you\'re usually good to go.

The bugs and problems with a mac is.. most often totally illogical, inconsistent and impossible to figure out.. and when you phone the so called (self appointed?) experts they usually say.. \"does it do that... wierd\" \"Oh that\'s strange.. do you have the latest version\"

YES I do have the latest version of Final Cut and with the amount of bugs it has I am surprised that the earlier version didn\'t just simply blow your computer up. It would certainly be a less torment.

Apple sure make you pay nicely for it too. Oh, and is it still not possible to replace the batteries in iPods?

I\'ve changed mine in about 10 minutes for 20 dollars (price of batterie). It\'s one of the easiest things I could think of.

Well, I remember a while back (a year or so, maybe a bit more) there were a lot of talk in the media about how you couldn\'t replace the re-chargeable batteries when they had gone bad (which sooner or later all re-chargeable batteries do). Thus, the gadget became useless. Maybe they\'ve changed the construction since then? They should have!

Most of the iPod models can have the battery changed, but its not endorsed by Apple! You can just easily pop the backs or the tops off with a bit of know how and do it yourself.

Well, I\'ve never had an iPod myself, I just remember reading that stuff about the batteries and thought that I would never buy one. Then, I don\'t need an mp3 player so I wouldn\'t have bought one anyway...

Hmmm...

Don\'t we all have to drink something when the old MAC/PC debates starts???

If we don\'t...then we should....:D

My Ipod is three years old :p
The thing is, it wasn\'t designedd to be an everyday operation. It wasn\'t planned to be somthing the customer could do. So very few people know it\'s easy to open an Ipod and change things in it. Kinda like computer, they usually don\'t come with little instructions on how to modify it\'s component, dosn\'t mean it\'s hard.
Oh and after three years with my Ipod it still works fine :) And after a whole life with apples....no complaints :p

Apples...

...Are magnificant!

What am I doing using Windows?

The new iTunes 7.0 is fantastic! I can navigate through my Podcasts and Music so much easier now :)
I\'m loving it.

They are designing some new technology for their computer hard and software at the moment which is absolutely phenominal!(sp?)

Um, ok, you asked for it. [rant]

First of all. What kind of a device requires EXACTLY three seconds of keeping your finger on a \"play\" button to be switched off! Try to keep it longer, and it switches off and on again. Fun.

Second of all. What kind of a device needs an unreasonable amount of operations to be connected to a computer via an USB drive! Put the cord into the device, then into the USB drive, and it works fine once. Try it again -- bam! No reply. Soooo, then try attaching the cord to the device first, and only then attach the other end to the USB drive. Yes, it might work, it might not. Fun?

Third of all. iTunes. Mamma mia. Turns on when you don\'t ask it to. Doesn\'t let performing any kind of operations unless the stupid iTunes library stays unchanged in the very same location you left it earlier. Oh no, you moved the files around your hard drive? Too bad and BAM! Your entire library gets deleted. Fun?!

And so on, and so on. [/rant]
I haven\'t had a single one of these problems, but maybe that\'s because I\'ve got newer iPod/iTunes. I just upgraded to iTunes 7 and it is FANTASTIC! :D

yup, look up bootcamp and you\'ll know why buying PC\'s is going to get a lot less atractive ( not that it was atractive in the first place... :p).
And it looks like apple is gaining ground again. More apple computer are beeing spoted in French businesse schools, which means that they\'ll probably apear more often in the firms :)
