Aragorn Revisited

Granddad!
Well I wasn\'t happy with a few things despite him gaining a certificate at GD last year here\'s a reminder of how he used to be:

redid the sword in NMM, think I just about got it, gave him a more rugged look, and set him in Moria with a new base, here you go

any observations or thoughts gratefully accepted.

I am always hesitant to comment on one who is CLEARLY a better painter than I, but...:)

I like the new look of the sword--very nice.
The new base also is very good. I love the mud on his boots, but that brings me to a minor critique. I think the dirt/mud on his overcoat is the same color as the previous base, yes? The technique is well executed, just a different color. Was that intended? Otherwise, excellent work.

I really like the leathery look on the jerkin, and the hair highlights. I think the new base fits the mood of how you painted the figure much better than the old, and is well-executed in its own right.

Looks good. The sword looks very good, and I know how hard it is to do NMM on the blade of Aragorn or all those other LOTR figs. The base looks good as well. His left boot has drybrushed grey white, which could be an accident from the base and maybe you missed it, or you wanted a dusty boot. I think if you were going for the dusty look, it\'s a little strong. Great job on the aragorn, it\'s a lot better than my try.

thanks guys/gals, I was in two minds about the boots, as the mini was done away from the base it wasn\'t till I actually put \'em together..... so yeah I might tone that down a bit

the sword was my main concern as I\'m still getting to grips with NMM, the coat I didn\'t redo as my thinking was it was sort of inground from his years as a ranger, but I s\'pose it would have picked up a slight dusting. I did go back to the DVD but the Moria scenes are quite dark I spent about an hour or two going back & forth, especially where they are fighting the cave troll in Balins tomb

anyway thats the reason I posted it here to get some feedback, sometimes you just can\'t see the wood for the trees, and a different pair(s) of eyes can really help so thanks again
