Shipping costs can be quite high unfortunately. And the exchange rate for the South African Rand (ZAR) is currently 1 USD = 12.95 ZAR, so it can be a bit expensive.

But it's a great hobby, so I keep wishlists and save up. :D

Eye's are done

So I've finished her eyes. Pretty happy considering this is my second attempt ever at eyes on a model.

Obviously I need to clean up around them, but I'll do that tomorrow. It's 4am, so time for bed!

Oh wow that a great start. I think you just made this model amazing if you keep the smokey eye effect you got going. Really good.

Thanks Digga, I'm glad you like it. Going to be doing some research on makeup effects etc to see what I can do. She still terrifies me, but I'm really enjoying myself.

Very bold, im interested to see the makup effects and how they balance up against her skin.
I would suggest you get a base colour down of the skin first so theres less chance of a mistake later. :)

Hi ten ball - really great to have you stopping by (I'm getting starstruck by all of you CMON celebrities :)).

That's the plan. The dark brown around her eyes is going to be neatened up so that they're basically her eyelashes. Once I've got a good even base down I'm going to start with her makeup and then do highlights. Makeup wise I'm toying with a couple of options. Hopefully once I get the skin base colour in I'll have a better idea of where to go with it. May sound odd, but I find that models often suggest certain looks once you get them painted to a particular point.

Looking good. Normally I'd be careful about using dark colors to line the bottom of the eye, but if you're going for more of a make up look then it makes sense. If you're feeling up to it, you could try and highlight the bottom of the irises with a light blue. Of course since you've already done the pupil and catch light, you might just want to save it for your next bust. You can see how I did it on one of my projects

Thanks Bailey.

The picture doesn't show it (I'm not very good with a cellphone camera), but I have highlighted the bottom of the iris in a lighter blue.

She has a relatively masculine shaped face, so I want to try to keep her more feminine with a bit of makeup (not too overboard) and softer highlights. Hopefully it'll work.

Newbie painter is having fun though! :D

Progress and Bringing Someone to Your Attention

Greetings you fabulous people. I must just let you all know how truly appreciative I am for all of your comments, advice and support. Here in the real world it's basically my good friend YetiSA and myself trying to help and encourage each other. So it's been marvelous to meet new people and get some additional input. So thank you all. :kissed: :in-love: :kissed:

YetiSA is pretty much the reason I discovered this amazing hobby. He's set up a WIP thread and I wanted to link to it here. Like myself he is happy to get advice and input. So if you have a chance please go and check out: Yeti's Guild Ball WIP.

My She Warrior bust is progressing slowly. I've started basecoating the skin and already she's starting to come together. I'm trying to do very thin, smooth coats, so she's still looking a bit splotchy. I'll update with pictures in a while.

I hope that everyone is having a good weekend and that any painting/sculpting you're doing is going well. :D
