Bear with me

As I mentioned to ten ball, I think that I've bitten of more than I can chew with Bigun. I don't feel that my painting skills are at the point where I can achieve the finished product I have in mind.

So, rather than ruin him and getting all frustrated, I have made an executive decision to set him safely to one side to keep the She Warrior bust company.

I've started in on the Khorgorath mini from the Sigmar starter box. :brushwave: My man was kind enough to assemble all of the minis for me over the course of a couple of weeks. :kissed:

I will post some pics when the evening's painting is done.

As always, thanks for bearing with me. I think this is the right decision for me and I hope it's not too frustrating for you guys.

Haaaawww come on don't start drama, drama is for me :D Yes Arch move on, the important is at each mini you catch something and makes you improve for next time, sometimes it will take many minis maybe to be able to finish one you like. Display standard is not something easy so try with table top and table top high :) do many many minis. You can't fail with us here supporting you!

I just realised that sometimes you have to walk before you can run. I'm also a bit of a perfectionist and so I know I would've got frustrated with myself.

No quitting - you won't get rid of me that easily! :D

Spent a couple of hours on this guy this evening getting the basecoats down. I've only done one layer on the skin so far, but he's getting there. I'll need to tidy up when I'm done, but not too stressed about the occasional splotches of red on the bone.

Note: the horns and headdress aren't going to be bone - I just needed a light basecoat down for them.

I am stoke, big project, perfectionist? No never heard of him :D


It's just how you feel inside, when I was young never I was like "depressed" all I was doing is having fun and paint, when I feel like "depress" I just look at a skeleton and it's looks so complicated and long to do and I have vertigo ... When I fell normal when you know what I can do I am just do it and have energy. Just to get to where I am now I had to sacrifice like 5 years on tabletop material before I could do a single display mini, That was after a break of 10 years, just to get my brush where I wanted 6 years... You say you started 6 months ago my advice is take it easy LOL HAVE FUN!!!

You are doing great Arch.

Another way of thinking about it...you have a very clean start on the giant and if you were to finish the rest of him to the skins standard you would gave a top knotch tabletop super plus paint job (or what I call my display level ;) ) that you can enjoy. Then as you level up in new skill execution, you can go back to him and tweak him to major display levels. That way you are always making progress and will have multiple completions of the mini at different levels.

That is a good point and definitely something to consider. :good: I do, however, have a growing collection of minis - so I figured that I would spread the love around a bit for the meantime.

great start. I like the palette. Just paint if you wan to get better at it. Paint everything and don't aim for perfection. I spent 20yrs just doing gaming armies for the table top. The past 4 are where i did all my growing and reached display level. You are doing incredibly well for 4 months!!!!

Super smooth start, so a great base to move on!! ^^

Don't run in despair! just keep insisting and again I see you improving at a great pace! Shadowing on the giant looks well positioned but if you feel like you need to change minis do it! nobody is going to hunt you for doing so ;)

Ok, to make you feel better at your first free hand tatoo, i give you my best freehand to date. (Now to be fair this was painted in the pre-internet days).




And i will never take a picture of the awefull tatoo I did on an early Citadel trollslayer dwarf. Brrrr:(

@KruleBear - You have gone for a rather complicated design and not done a bad job with it at all. Practice will hopefully get us both to where we want to be. :)

@Digga - Pay attention young man!

he he, didnt have any brown enamel paint so borrowed some of my Dads brown gloss paint from the garage, dotted the eyes with a cocktail stick :claply:

@ten ball - That is so awesome that you still have him! I love seeing where all of you superbly talented folks have developed from. It's interesting and gives us beginners hope! :D
