Thanks Gino.
It's actually a combination of resin and metal. The majority is resin though. They offer alternate poses and upgrades to some of their minis, so certain elements/parts are in metal. But it fits together well and I am very happy with the quality of the casting.

There are budget and painting time issues! You wouldn't believe the backlog I have here. Either way, ordered a Shade1 along with the raider witch I needed, should be here in a week or so, maybe slightly more since today is a holiday.

@oistene - You don't have to tell me about backlogs! But at least I have a more relaxed time frame because I don't need my minis for actual gaming. Painting is going slowly at the moment - enjoying holiday with my man's family in the coast. Books. Beach. Naps. Painting. These all take time and need my serious attention. So there's no pressure on starting soon.

Just a little update from me.
I've been working backwards and forwards on Dozer and Smigg's skin; playing with different paint consistencies etc. No pics after today's session - they're still a bit wet, so the pics I did take didn't show any detail nicely.
I'm still battling to get a paint consistency that I'm happy with for blending and glazing. But I'm working on it and I think I'm slowly figuring out which direction to go in. I've over-thinned the paint a few times which made it very frustrating to work with! I ultimately want the paint to be transparent enough for earlier layers to show through, but thick enough that I can control where it's going. I've been making notes of what works and what doesn't, so I'll prevail I'm sure! :victory:
Otherwise the holiday is going well - many books have been read (yay!), my man has managed to unwind after a hectic year and I've even got a bit of a tan!
I hope that all of you fabulous people are doing well. I'll try to nab some pics for you of painting progress tomorrow.

Happy New Year and its good to hear the holiday is going well. Have you tried a glaze medium (if thats what its called) it should help the paint flow better, be more transparent while keeping its pigmentation

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "glaze medium" Darthmarsh. Are you referring to a commercially available product? I've been experimenting with various combinations of water, Flow Improver, Slo-Dri, Matte Medium and paint.

Glaze medium is similar to matte medium and in many cases both will work. Glaze medium is just more suited towards creating glazes. Adding a lot of water to paint can make it break up and not behave as well. Adding a bit of glaze medium into the mix will help it stay together and make it easier to work with. I've got a bottle of Vallejo Glaze Medium, but I imagine other brands of paint have this as well.
Oh, sometimes glaze medium can leave a satin finish. You shouldn't run into that issue with matte medium.

Thanks oistene - I'm getting there! I've only worked on the skin so far because there are a lot if straps etc that come over it. The overbrushing is just me being messy when I started out. Metals to come!

Thanks Mr Jim. They've still got to be highlighted, but I'm happy with the way the paintjob is going. Some light beige and blues are still to come in.

You could make the lumps a lighter or even the lightest color when highlighting then add some purples glazes to differentiate.thats what I might've done.

I think you could work some colors into those areas. Don't have my color wheel handy so no suggestion dpfor the purple (a greenish yellow?). For reference think about how BAM works reds into the elbows and shades of his orks.
Looks good so far. Could use a better lit photo though as their is a lot of shadow in it.
