I was talking to Sonnyslayer on MSN and I mention I had never painted an Ultra Marine Space Marine in my 20 years of being in the hobby or 10 years of playing 40K. Sonnyslayer said, \'You aren\'t a painter until you paint an Ultra Marine\'

Of course he was joking. Or was he?

How many painters out there actually paint an Ultra Marine in traditional Ultra Marine colours?

I\'ve painted too many ultramarines based from the eavy metal colour scheme.

What i haven\'t painted yet is an ork:redface: or a dragon...erm come to think of it i haven\'t painted alot of stuff :redface:

Yep! Been there, done that and got a finalist certificate for him this year. And even worse, I\'m currently working on one. (Ok so working on one is stretching it a bit. He\'s primed and has his eyes painted in. Ok Satisfied)

Done Ultra Marines a long time ago in the RT era but none recently and like Klaus and Mike there is still a lot out there that I haven\'t painted yet.
(Although a lot of it seems to be in my unpainted collection)

personally i never want to want a ultra marine, as everyone collects them! I can\'t afford too much, so havent painted as much as I would have liked....:~(

it\'s been a long time since i painted a marine.
and i wouldn\'t paint one nowadays if i had the choice. they used to be boring as hell, now they are also full of excess crap.
(do you get the feeling i don\'t like space marine models any more?)

Yes i have painted an Ultra marine in traditional colors but it was for the sole purpose of selling it.

absolutly. Painted one a few years ago when I was on a kick to have one space marine painted of all the official chapters from the first founding in their original colors.

I just think Ultramarines is one of the most common 40k armies.

When I got back into painting last year I had the thought that I would like an actual finished army of some description UM was it at the time and I painted about 5 of them.
It was after those that I realised I would lose my soul if I painted anymore! lol

Well, I\'ve never painted an UM. I did some Blood Angels and Dark Angels in my past life as a young\'un (for Space Hulk and early edition WH40K). I do technically own some UM models thanks to Space Crusade but never got round to painting them - I\'m not a big fan of the whole SM scene
