This is an excellent Kickstarter. The sculptors they have lined up are great, MIKH and Valentin Zak/AMMON, should be excellent models.

Yes indeed, backed it.

The 360 of the finished miniature looks bloody amazing.

And i really want that arabian scimitar wielding female they have as stretch goal.

They've got some really nice looking sculpts and the concept art for the future figures is awesome.

Here are some of the figure images from the kickstarter. The final product will be in resin which is great for us painters. The game mechanics look cool too. Be sure to check the kickstarter site to see their plans for the rest of the figure range. The figures aren't all Romans, other factions include figures inspired by ancient Egypt, early Britain and Gaul, native Americans, and what sounded like vikings.

Arena Rex udated with a comment on what sculptors to expect:

"Hey Everyone, we are hard at work prepping the next stretch goals and making plans for the rest of the campaign. We plan on shooting the gameplay video tomorrow or Friday, after that I'll do some minor video editing and up on the Kickstarter it will go.

With respect to WiP, we are just as excited to see these as you are and will share them with you as they are ready. Currently MIKH is finishing Otho and beginning work on Lupa. Valentin Zak is putting the finishing touches on Micon. Work on Noxius might begin this month too.

Much of my time lately has been spent pairing unlocked gladiators with sculptors. I have some excellent news on that point, Sebastian Archer will be working on two more gladiators this Summer! We are thrilled that he is making time for us and will have more info soon."

Keep your eyes open!

Here's a round up of the comments from Red Republic Games that I thought contained interesting or useful information not easily found elsewhere. For anyone who hasn't taken a look at the project it's well worth checking out.

"Yes, Field of Jupiter gladiators are on the same power level as Field of Mars gladiators. They are just physically bigger. This tends to manifest as more and earlier push results in their Damage Trees as well as 40mm and 50mm based models having built-in push resistance."

"We have some pretty variable costs headed into the Field of the Titans as things unlock. That means swapping them out on a 2:1 basis isn't really a great deal for some of them, and isn't really feasible for others. Because of this we are going to keep it as add-ons to avoid complicating the pledge levels."

"The arenas we have been using are 30" diameter. The arena walls in our video we cast in resin ourselves as an experiment. We aren't set up to do our own casting, but we just wanted to play around with some molds and stuff. The pillars are from Secret Weapon Miniatures. We are looking into terrain and would love to do some, we just don't want it to interrupt our ability to put out more minis."

"These are concepts, so the poses may not be exactly what you see in the art. We like to work with the sculptor and give them the freedom to execute properly in three dimensions. We prefer dynamic action poses as well."

" In general, the art that does not currently reflect final model poses are Otho, Marcus Furius, Infelix, Ban-Luca, and Gaius Pallidus. This list may change in the future, but will be finalized before the end of the Kickstarter campaign."

"A female for the Field of Jupiter is in the works. @Denny Crane- We plan to release both exotic wild animals and mythological beasts to fight in the arena."

"Future expansions will bring in new warriors from further afield."

"High pledge levels: We have discussed a couple of options for really high pledge levels. We do have plans for a "one of everything." We have enough potential unlocks that we need a bit longer to dial in value for it. "

"If you prefer to double a pledge level, just choose the level you want to double, add in the amount of the pledge again, and let us know at the end of the campaign."

"Some backers have been doubling their pledge amount to get double rewards. A couple more things about Double pledges: Do international backers who want double rewards have to double their increased shipping? No Do double Ludus Magnus and double Ludus Maximus backers get two free Lupas? When that reward is unlocked, Yes This may be less relevant when a new pledge level or two is added."

whoa, almost missed this one. Glad I checked this thread.

Welcome aboard. I'll be looking forward to seeing what you do with some of those female gladiators!

And for people who haven't looked at the project, here's the concept art for the currently unlocked figures (with more coming). Earlier posts showed you the sculpts they have so far and you can see they are pretty faithful to the concepts. The game mechanics also sound pretty interesting, so check out the kickstarter for more info on those.
