Yeah, I'm just in it for the figures... but from what I read of the rules the game looks interesting. With traps/pits it seems like positioning is very important and you can end up trading pieces as the character you used to knock your opponent into the pit is left on the edge to get pushed in right afterward. At least that's the impression I got from reading someone else's playtest. Since you design your arena you can certainly control how many traps there are and where they are (centrally located or on the periphery).
Really excited to see how these figures are turning out. There are a lot of great sculptors, especially MIKH or Sebastian Archer. What I've seen so far from them is amazing and I can't wait to see the rest of their sculpts for this project. The last update mentioned that you can add to your pledge once the pledge manager comes out. I have a feeling I'll be spending more on this project especially know that I've seen more of the figures.
