The absolute best thing for 1st and 2nd degree burns is vinegar and baking soda. Sound weird and a lot of people haven’t heard of it but I know first hand. Only down side is you have to do it right after the burn occurs. Just pour it in a bowl and the foaming action created will kill the pain and reduce redness or blisters. If the burn is somewhere you can’t soak, you can make compresses too. I’ve only needed it a few times in my life but it works great and really kills the pain.
The best example I have is second hand but happened to me. When I was three, I got too close to a small barbeque on the ground. After being told “don’t touch those coals they are hot”, apparently I put my hands on my hips, huffed at my mom and reached over and picked up a nice white-hot coal! (I have a history of not liking to be told what to do) Anyway, they immediately put my hand in a bowl of vinegar/baking soda and I didn’t even get a blister.
