Ariseth converted

I don\'t think I\'ve ever posted a submission here, or if I have it was so long ago that I\'ve forgotten it. But this one here is sort of a fun project I did where I took a mini that I sort of liked and tried to bring her up a bit in appearance through a conversion.

The raw mini is here for comparison:

I liked the mini to an extent but her head was too skinny and didn\'t match the level I saw in the lower half of the sculpt, so I thought I would try to balance it out a bit by adding some volume here and there.

The converted bits are her helm, shoulder armor, back loincloth and hair.

Before I started I took the image into photoshop and did a little drawing over it to get a feel for what the conversion would look like (posted in another thread about using photoshop with minis):

Then I tried to make it happen close enough with putty, magic sculpt, in this case.

Had some trouble with the swords, big flat areas facing the \"camera\" call for smooth blends and gradients, but that ended up looking too plain and wasn\'t doing anything for me so I ended up adding some kind of arcane symbol/swirly patterns to the sword, which don\'t make any sense, but add something to look at at least.

Looking sweet.

I\'ve really become a huge of your painting style. I actually have two of your painted minis in my favorites list. It was also really cool of you to send me a PM thanking me for leaving a comment on one of your minis.

This guy is no exception. Really sweet choice of colors. The purple straps and the blueish metals complement eachother perfectly. Also, you have your own style in many ways. Kinda like a mixture of all my favorite painters rolled into one.

I\'ll be keeping a close eye on all of your future painted minis as well.

Thanks Darkstar!

I wouldn´t have thought of it myself, but after seeing your \"before\" and \"after\" pictures it´s true that the sculpt is indeed too \"bottomheavy\" :p

You did a great job of rectifying the weak sculpt, and allthough I prefer a gritty approach to painting minis, I love the \"cartoony\" feel to this one.

2 thumbs up!
