Got back into painting again as I have some time off finally! I bought a whole bunch of Rackham minis so here\'s the first one - only a few hours work here since I just want to get something finished to get back into the swing (the feeling of actually finishing something up is great and makes me want to paint a lot more).

My main problem is the skin, I based with Tallarn flesh then highlighted up with bleached bone... Just doesn\'t seem enough definition there. What would people recommend to shade it down?

you could try adding a bit of blue or purple, with a bit of brown(washes)

some red around the cheeks(glazed on) top of the cheek should be highliughted skin, side should be redish if you wanted...or orangey

and some yellow could be adding through glazes, to the forehead between your main colour and highlights

colour is what brings faces to life, you can use any colour, it just creates a different result

another thing, i like to mix grey in with brown when shading beiges, straight brown tends to adding a dirty feel to it, but i find the grey seems to help it stay a bit cleaner

looks good! your work is always getting better!

Finished the base off and added a little more white to the NMM gold.

I\'ll be trying the \'grey\' tip out with the browns for shading down whites, Stark. Sounds like solid advice...

I added a very thin glaze of red leather (VMC) to the skin but I think it could use a few more. I think I need to black line the hair from the face too or at least at some depth to the hair to separate the colour a little.
