Well.. I\'ve been painting for few solid months now and got about 30 marines done and a few tanks so I can actually play TT.

With the remaining units I\'ve decided to use them to practice.. and I think I have finally cracked the secrets to blending (not the gown so much here but the face)

I\'m so pumped I don\'t even wanna go sleep. Just paint...

@OrkyDave: haha yep.. if the point is off I either use the piece of plasticard in the pic or my hand.. or if I have too much paint on the brush I do the same thing.

About blending: that was my problem, far too much paint on the brush.

@Yetie: thanks! I\'m practicing with the marines since I\'m going to the paint the company master really soon:

That base is well good how\'d you do the little bits of rock? I love the new DA models there full of dark broody feel that you get from the fluff of the DA

yep the base is thin pieces of cork glued together.. painting was bluey greys up to a light grey then a few thin washes of brown and yellow ink I think it was.

I think I gave it another light drybrush at the end.

Hey Harbringer:

I actually used the P3 paints for that. I started with Menoth White Base and slowly added White White highlight until I was at pure menoth white highlight.

Then (on some of the minis) I mixed Rucksack Tan into the Menoth White Base for shading like these one: (old WIP pic)

I think I\'m in love with the new DA models they are just beautifull, full of character and 40k feeling. Cheers for sharing about the base really like it :D

You could just use Bleached Bone up to Skull white, and shade with bestial brown, maybe a touch of scorched brown in the deep recesses!

Menoth White Base = Bleached Bone but a little darker.

Decided to try NMM, and heres my first try and I need some guidance :D

Here\'s what I got (just the knee pad atm).

From what I can see there\'s far too much middle ground for the base colour grey. Should I bring the highlights down? add more intermediate colours? bring the shadows up? are the highlights in the correct place?

Argggh I got the hang of blending but learning HOW to paint NMM is tough (where highlights go etc).. I better get reading some articles.

Don\'t mean to be rude - but I really can\'t see:
What\'s blended?

If it\'s the lower half (Which I THINK I can detect a bit) then it\'s a bit TOO subtle (But very smooth) :)
