Damn it that\'s when I joined the site :( I could have showed you around...

Haha the dude that runs it speaks a little English, he loves Western Rock bands too (RHCP, Rage, etc).

Real nice guy.

Thats looking awesome...I think I may follow your lead and start using white undercoats too...

Is there any chance of a quick run through of the colours and techniques you used for this?

Reds:

Basecoat of 2:1 Chaos Black: Blood Red
Keep adding red until 100% Blood red

Grey on the skirt at the bottom:

Basecoat of Codex Grey
adding white to highlight to almost pure white.

Purple:

Basecoat of Liche Purple
Shade down with 1:1 Liche Purple:Chaos Black
Highlight with 2:1 Liche Purple:Codex Grey
Hightlight with 1:1 Liche Purple:Codex Grey

Techniques:

I use thin paint and only use a small amount of paint on the brush... using quick strokes and little pressure I slowly blend areas up..

Though looking at my WIP now... I\'ve screwed things up a little. I have trouble using thin paint on small areas (I apply too much pressure and flood the area / water marks etc).

And Bleached Bone... I can\'t lay bleached bone cleanly at all! Any tips?

Really nice work arma, my only criticism is that the gems on the helmet crest have not been painted and the grey waist sash looks a little flat. Appreciate you had a deadline though!

Good luck and let us know how you get on!

it is very flat :( I decided to change it at end but the fact is I just got a little tired of painting this one haha.

When I get it back from the shop I\'ll probably redo the sash but the paint on there is very uneven..

I did learn a lot painting this one though. Quick question, is it just me or do lighter colours dry faster than darker ones? I always find that light colours dry quicker and I try and work them too long = unsmooth finish. Maybe it\'s just me? ???

Just need to paint the rest of em now!

I agree lighter colours do seem to dry faster.
either that or they tend to dry before getting a smooth finish as this takes a little longer sometimes with light colours.

agree with OD those gems could do with painting to break that crest up but deadlines are deadlines.
Nice work.

It\'s a shame you had to rush the guy! There are a few spots that look like they could\'ve been done a bit flashier (namely the swords and white stuff) but it\'s definitely a good result.

Are you considering going back for some touchups and whatnot after the contest?

for the bone/white it looks less like shadow, more like tinting, the bone on the chest actually looks brighter where its yellow(kinda) if you mixed in a tad bit of purple, it might change this

the sash looked better shadow grey, it broke up the bones

as to the goldy metallics, chesnut+purple ink is great for a meidum dark and vallejo smoke+purple ink for a very dark shade

great work however, makes me want to touch my farseer...and change some things!

Yep, I want to add some freehand, re-do the helmet (with gems). I was really disappointed with the swords.. they\'re not very \'clean\' at all. But I did learn a lot painting this (bear in my this is my 12th figure ever that I painted I\'m quite pleased mind).

Regarding the helmet - I should have painted it a grey shade first, then highlighted up instead of trying to fight it down... in the end I just dark lined it with shadow grey.

What do you suggest, Jericho? I love your work too so I\'d be interested to hear your C&C! :D

I have some Smoke actually, I might give it a try.

I got a lot of ideas from your Farseer too Sparks! I loved the white, red, purple combo and pretty much stole it. Hope you don\'t mind!

Regardless glazes, could anyone give me any tips on

* how thin they should be

and specifcally

* applying a glaze

I get the idea it should be just \'slapped\' on but I\'m sure this isn\'t the case? either way I\'m sure they need to be watery thin...

Thanks all.. I\'ll post it soon once I edited the pics.

Next mini:

Requius Death Warden (3083) and my first Reaper miniature!

I was suprised since I got 3 heads with it! So which head do people prefer and also since there\'s a lot of cloth on this one, what colours would be good? he looks like he really sees a lot of action so gonna make (try) his stuff look really worn down.

Here are the heads, and I really don\'t know which I prefer
