AB is pretty much the best one out there - if you\'re going to use a purchased soft to do this. Yes, they sometimes have hiccups due to errors in the datafiles (thye\'re created by volunteers) but most of them are noted in the forums located on the Wolf\'s Lair site.

As for the 5th Edition, I\'m not sure how this will affect it. Except for scenario settings, most of the options and such are codex based and not based on the rulebook. I would suppose there\'ll be an update around 90 days after the new 5th Ed rulebook comes out (that\'s the moratorium agreed them by GW so they can make the soft) to update anything changed by 5th Ed.

Hola Necro,
The Army Builder Software is really well done. It makes building army lists a lot of fun and allows you to quickly figure out your unit options and play with various build options. Great in the early planning stages of a new army purchase too.
If I have a knock against the program it\'s that you are buying it as semi subscription base. Here\'s what I mean. When you buy the program you get free downloads and updates from the designers for 1 year. After that, you either pay the $30 again, or you manually download and install the new software for the updates to the army lists. If you are reasonably computer savy this is really NO problem at all. You goto the designers web site. Select the file and tell it where you want to download it to. Then go into the Army Build program and tell it to use the new file. For some this is too much hassle, for others they don\'t see why this is even an issue.

Regarding 5th. Since army builder only concerns itself with the army lists, the 5th edition switch shouldn\'t matter in the least. Usually they release a FAQ update for 5th if need be. But you are about 98% good to go right out of the box once you download the games and army lists you want.

Hope this helps! PM me if you have other questions. :D

again: ok sounds good. thanks. i heard about it on 40kradio, it sounded good. ive been doing more research so im gonna order it.

Army Builder FTW!
Honestly, I still use the 2.2 version, and the 3rd is said by friends to bring some more good stuff to the table (no pun intended).

It allows quick changes in army lists, the printouts are detailed (never forget your general\'s magic items again!), and is generally very nice to work with.
And also, there are yahoo groups that do updates for army lists in the case the subscription runs out, so really no problem there.

Some say it\'s a bit expensive, but I found it worth it, not least for the time saved. Go for it.

I\'ve used army builder many times and find it quite useful. It was great when I would play mordheim games at the house. we could knock out four or five games in a night and it helped having army builder.

You guys probably know about this already, but Warmachine/Hordes players can use the free, Java-based Armies of Immoren software. You might need to download the latest JRE (Java Runtime Environment) but as Java is cross-platform it will run on any OS that can run Java.

The software is good, easy to use, has a collection tracker utility and when you print out your list you get damage boxes for your beasts/jacks/casters etc.

Did I mention it\'s free?

Just got it. It\'s AWESOME! Just one question, how could I configure it to work with belloflostsoul\'s 30k rules?
