Army Painter primers

I picked up a can of Army Painter\'s metallic silver primer and I seem to have a problem with it- paint doesn\'t want to stick to it! It beads up as though the surface is greasy, although I\'m fairly sure it\'s not that greasy from being handled or anything. I\'ve managed to get paint on through determination as much as anything else, but it is annoying. Anyone else have this, or am I doing something epically wrong?

it\'s leaving a satin surface, not a matt one.

it\'s not actualy a primer, it\'s just a coloured spray. which is why the surface isn\'t matt.

Damn! I feel I have been cheated!

I did notice that if I scrubbed the surface with an old brush, the paint stuck better. If I use this silly stuff again, I may give it a bloody good scrub with some soap and an old toothbrush, and see if that helps.
