Artemis from Hasslefree miniatures

Hello again everyone, it\'s been a while since I last posted here on CMON. I\'m busy working and don\'t come home all too often now a days.

Anyway, here\'s my latest project, Artemis from Hasslefree miniatures. The resin plinth was bought on ebay and messed about with. I couldn\'t think of a good way to design a floor for it and have been pondering the problem for a while when last night it struck me that I could simply carve it out of the resin.

So, here she is, ready to be painted:

I\'ve primed her white and will start painting soon, there may be an update later tonight. I\'d appreciate any and all help while painting this one as I usually only paint 28mm and sci-fi, with a lot less skin showing :D

As ashamed as I am to say it, she\'s got a fantastic bottom.

The rest is lovely too!

Prehaps a few glazes to smothe out the skin, then prehaps a few zenithal highlights (from above), just to give some realism.

Those boots are going to be a bitch to paint though!

Thanks for the comments guys. And thanks for the tips Alex, not sure if I dare to mess around more with the skin tones but I might add some more zenithal highlights like you suggest.

Here are two pictures of where I currently stand:

As for the shield, I found a design that I think I will manage to duplicate, the second shield from the top: shield designs. Had I been more confident in my freehand skills I would attempt the owl but as it is I think I\'m going for the sparta design.

Comments and criticism appreciated.

Looking good so far! :) I like the skintone.

One thing you can try experimenting with is to change the tones of the skin a bit on different places gives a more vivid and realistic result... of course you need to look at some suitable reference pictures... ;)

Don\'t be afraid to work a bit with the skintones, just use thin layers! The semi translucency effect of skin can, I think, be best imitated with using lots and lots of glazes (or filters).

A Greek with blonde hair? Shenanigans!

Seriously though, the skintones are very smooth and lifelike. The effect will be a bit more realistic once the nippley-type areas are darkened up a bit. Good luck with the boots, they do indeed look like they\'ll be a pain :(

<edit> BTW you totally have to give the model some Nike shoes :) </edit>

Cheers for the comments guys, and thanks for the tips Avelorn, much appreciated.

Ok, so I think I\'m pretty much done. I know the shield isn\'t amazing but neither are my freehandskills so it will have to do.

If you\'ve got a spare moment you can vote for her here: http://www.coolminiornot.com/213884

And yeah, photobucket decided to remove one of the pics because they don\'t want to host \"full frontal nudity\", doesn\'t matter if it is considered \"art\" or not. But as long as I took pictures from an angle where her leg obscures, well you know, it was ok.

I paint my thumb.
I personally got nothing against frontal nudity.. whether it\'s art or not lol

Looking good, flesh is very realistic and smooth. The hair looks somewhat flat though, lacks shading maybe. The nipple color seems a bit odd also, kinda goldish. These base could be a little more varied in tones, the floor looks exactly like the pillar; personnal thing, maybe that\'s what you where going for.
She also looks like she has a rash on her left knee, then again maybe she does, why not

Still, nice job, skin tone is just right and that\'s what matters most, and the shield is very neat and credible, just not a lot of showing off ;)
