Hi everyone, just finished this absolutely amazing miniature, Artemis. The whole model practically painted itself, especially the flesh, which i am especially pleased about, as I have only ever painted male, darker flesh before.

The shield was a bane trying to get a solid metaillic colour on the black, i even tried painting it all metallic then stencilling the black over, but it just wasn\'t working properly. But im pretty pleased with the overall look.

the skin is great, but where the helmet meets her hair could have some separation and the gold on her helmet and her hair color could have more depth. I love the base though, very fitting. I give it an 8 for the lovely skin tones.

Well you have an uphill struggle with me here. I didn\'t like this mini as much as most people seemed to when it first came out, I\'ve been overexposed to it because everyone seems to be doing a version, and it has been done by some of the best painters around...

Having said that your version holds up pretty well!

I like the skin. It feels smooth and it\'s not overworked, which gives it a nice glow. Around the hairline you could maybe use some more shading, and perhaps a few washes of thin red on the face to give a bit more character.

The base is cool, once again it\'s simple but effective.

The metals could perhaps do with more depth through some darker washes, although it sounds like you had a real job with the shield. I don\'t know if you know this tip, but gold covers like a dream, and shines much stronger when applied over a brown undercoat (I tend to use Snakebite Leather).

All in all it is still good stuff.

a nice piece - i especially love the base and the shield. some darklining would really improve it though - hands, strap, hair etc

Cheers for the comments. Phew, i survived a Lono crit!

Darklining is a something i really need to improve on.

Heres some better pics showing the face and the skins shading alot better (and very revealing pic at that size!)

ok matty here goes. the skin is done pretty well. the folds and areas of skin where they meet up are however not as good. i think you could push the gradation a bit more. the face seems to be too bland but i feel that with a bit more highlights and possibly a very light tanned flesh wash you could bring out the face a bit more. the boots also need to be blended a bit more. i feel the rest got all of your attention, but when it came to the boots you might have hurried through them. now that i have said all of these things lets go over the good aspects. the majority of shading is top notch. i feel as if this is not made out of metal but its seems almost like real skin on many of the major parts. the shield does not bother me all that much, however i think a slight amount of brazen brass on the sides might help give it a good shade and a bit of shining gold with mithril silver on the very tips could also do it wonders. i think this is by far your best mini and could garner a 9 if you work on these things. i will give it a 7.8 but will vote it at 8 when i vote. hope this helps. keep up the awesome work. you really are growing in leaps and bounds. :D

Cheers UD, iv gotten alot of feedback over at World of Minis aswell so iv done a few more changes.

Added darklining to the helmet/hair, scabbard strap, hand holding the weapon and the metaillic sections on the helmet.
Iv reglazed more browns onto the helmet and shield for shading, and highlighted them up with silver mixes.
Took the skin tone up 2 more levels, can\'t get much brighter IMO, would have to add more shading to get added contrast, but the extra HL should accentute the shades a bit more (hopefully)
Iv put some browns glazes onto the boots.
Added browns into the base so it doesn\'t look so plain.

Would love some more feedback please.

I think the flesh was done very well, except perhaps on the cheeks (the face ones) where the paint looks a bit thick. For me the hair is the weak spot as it looks quite flat, the color needs to be richer there.

Hope that helps. I think this mini is leaps and bounds better than your earlier stuff on CMoN! :drunk:
