Article: Auction linking changes

Can I ask why this is being done? I have auctioned a couple of conversions a long while back now, but am annoyed to think that if I were to want to do another I couldn't (at last on here, my favourite mini site). I hope I am right in thinking this isn't due to the actions of a certain site member I don't need to name and pressure from a leading miniature manufacturer? I know you're the boss but I would personally like to think that CMON is about all aspects of the miniature - sculpting, painting, and modelling etc and not just painted minis!

Hooray! I can spend 15 minutes voting in the Gallery without an incessant trail of Scibor & Co auctions cluttering everything up. Perhaps they'll bother to pay for an advert now instead.

One off greens/conversions are cool but using the Gallery as a shop window on a daily basis seemed cheeky to me anyhow.

Let's give it a couple of months & see how it goes :)

Cheers, B.

BPI - you probably don't understand that because of those advertisememnt and payments this site can evolve :) ?
Maybe don't depend with this but helps surely.

I agree with BPI it's nice having some of the clutter gone.

Also there is still the trading post where members can post things they are selling if I understand, you can sell mini's models in whatever state you want on there, just no more conversions getting ebay linked in the gallery.

So if you want to sell unpainted minis, conversion custom one offs, and what have you hit the trading post and if you have a company producing minis then it's part of any business to have regular advertising (banners and such).

Side note: Chern thanks for all the snazzy updates and tweeks you've put in loving the new cmon.

Hi Grytz, I don't have any difficulty comprehending that this site is a commercial venture in need of funds to sustain it. Nor do I have any difficulty in understanding that the site's owners will have examined the revenue stream from the specific links in question & considered the effect there loss would have upon the site before making the decision to remove them.

As a visitor to this site who enjoys various aspects of it, I don't jump up & down & rant about aspects I don't enjoy, I can always go elsewhere if I'm unhappy after all. However, having come across this News Item, out of the blue, my initial reaction was YIPPEEEEE. I have been browsing the Gallery & voting far less over the past couple of months because I was fed up of the posts in question. Their removal means that I'll be voting on more peoples work in the future.

I decided to post here in order to give the site owners some feedback on their decision. How are they to know how it's been received without the community commenting? Perhaps you'd care to share your opinion on the change, which you failed to do in your earlier post?

Thank you, B.

Not sure if I've read this right but I understood ANY links to unpainted items were out but are they still allowed in Trading Post as Friar has mentioned?

I'm not sure Waghorn, I'd originally read the primary distinction as being between studio production minis that are in effect commercial product (the bit that niggles me) & hobbyist links for pocket money (the more the better). But the initial post is very clear about it being painted only. I'm sure clarification will follow as the feedback is assessed :) Besides which it's not an irrevocable decision, plenty of room for future tweaks I'm sure :D B.

Yes, ebay linking in galleries to unpainted stuff is out. Trading post functions as normal unless you are primarily a business carrying out a retail trade. It's a free classifieds section for whatever and is not to be used as a store front.
