Very Good indeed! There is but one tiny detail that I would change: You mention doning the same with printed-out designs. That would cause much frustration, since the glue/water mix would completly mess up the printers ink ;-)

you could use a setting solution on printed images to stop it smudging - the same stuff you use for custom decals

you can use laser prints as they don't smudge with water, if you don't have a laser printer, a color photocopy would work as well.

Very nice! I like the way how you can "sculpt" the shape of the flag. I was thinking about making some bullet holes in it, so does it look kind of used. Thanks a lot!

Great article, have you ever made a flag/banner from aluminum foil? Back in the 70's I read a great modeling article from MRC Tamiya on using foil, primed and painted, it give very realistic folds and creases. Just wondering.- Doconicus
