Yeah, I've heard that a bit. I will hold my judgement for when I see the model and base together.
Either way its a neat concept, and the size of this figure is going to be mammoth
P.s. I'm guessing a miasma of souls attempting to escape The pit of hell may intentionally to look blobby. I did notice some of the detail is quite crisp, like the feathers on the angel wings for instance.

A good casting job on a so-so sculpt.
Definitley agree with Roger here, detailing looks poorly defined.
I also have to say that I'm not that impressed with the whole thing, as a base it looks like a whole load of things just randomly slapped together and rather childish in "concept".
But perhaps I've been spolit by looking at Jarheads bases.

The name of the company is bastion studios. It is for a table top war game. Called ex-illis.
I disagree that it looks like a bunch of random things slapped together. To me, it looks like whatever big fella is on top, killed a bunch of stuff, and niw he is collecting... Souls that is.
They've released a new photo. A bit more polished, I would say. I especially like the resessed (sp?) skulls between the bodies.

I don't think that's a photo, I think that's a 3D graphic. And that may be one of the problems with this thing - I think it was created from a 3D file rather than sculpted, with the deep relief from a one-piece mould of this type, see lack of undercuts, it looks more like an extrusion rather than a proper three-dimensional item (design/layout issues notwithstanding).MadNes said:

@ einion - im not in a position to dispute the authenticity of the photo. I'm told its a photo, I have no reason to disbelieve.
As to all of the technical and artistic parts, I have no design or artistic background. I just know what I think looks cool. This is one of those things.

This is a 3D render. But it looks pretty good to me, so many sharp details, the corpse of the angel with his bowels hanging, the skulls... They really went all out!

yeah i'm with rich and einion, lokos 3d to me. where does it say a photo? just says top down view
shame they seemed to have only used two models for the souls and just mixed them up with a few cuts... also the bricks do seem to be random, no real wall so where did they come from?

i agree the second picture is quite crisp. the first one looks like the plastic animals at the zoo they used to make: extruding the hot melted plastic into molds and popping them out for the kids enjoyment, and the parents complaining about over priced plastic bits.

Be aware of this - one of the main functions of this site is critique and sometimes something I have loved got panned. The aim, has for the most part, been to aim for better and better outcome and is well intentioned.
I can G for that. My whole point is I cant get technical with the artsy stuff. So I cant talk shop with those who can. All I knowis "I" like it. My hope was to share it with others who might appreciate a mob of souls being drained into "the pit"

But remember, its not a stand alone thing... I mean it is a stand... but it doesn't come alone..... Nevermind.
There is going to be a big honkin monster ontop of this thing at gen con. If for nothing other than SiZe its going to be raw.
I wonder if we can do a cage match of gen con exvlusives. Whatever this animal is vs Lord Chompy Bitz
