Great idea, sort of like a jewellers vice. One suggestion would be to use 2-3 screws to attach the plate to the handle. That way there's no spinning plate, no need to tighten the screw every couple minutes etc. I think over a longer period the extra screw will pay off.

This could be mounted on an angle-poise so that you can raise, lower and rotate it easily. You wouldn't need any hands to hold it then.

Sounds very interesting. I'll have to try it. It may be easier to make if you have some of the older Erector Sets toys.

Nice idea, I'm only 23 and sometimes when I paint my hand with shake or crap think this is a great and easy way to fix that problem.-Torath-

Looks interesting but seems like a lot of work. I use 4" nails that fit into a drilled hole in a block of wood. The Mini is glued to the nail using a hot glue gun.

Seems a bit complicated. I just use a pair of locking steel hemostats that I picked up at medical supply shop. Most miniatures I paint have a tab or peg to clamp onto and there's no risk of the mini falling off. This affords me access to all those hard to paint areas and an easy way to pick up and put down the mini without much fuss or muss. That being said this was an interesting and well written guide/article.

This is a great idea, I wish I read this sooner. I am going out today to collect all the stuff to make a couple for the differnt styles of bases

I am just 16 so I do not have too mutch problem yet, I don't shake my hands.... yet :)
I have a big 3cm tall 4cm wide plastic stuff with a place at he top to clipp in the 25round base and i painted ma terminator chaplain... it is still working, easy to hold but would be better with some extra weight is them.
