I was going to go for this, being one of the people that asked for it, but it is the same price as the hard copy!

I have a question about this DvD, i don't know if this place is the best to ask it, but anyway, here i go:

I would like to know if these dvd's have subtitles, at least, in english. If it doesn't have them, i would like to know if it would be possible that in a future, these dvd's are made with subtitles in english and other languages...
For non-english speakers is a bit hard to understand it only listening, besides that, in this way you could sell the dvd's to more people!

It costs the same to manufacture/deliver, in terms of very fast Cloudfront access provided by Amazon. The main advantage of the HD version is that it has twice the resolution of the DVD version. The DVD has menus and the Russian soundtrack, plus there's a physical medium. Pick your poison :).

That's a good idea, we've got some requests for translated versions already.

tech support question here! nI legally retarded when it comes to computers and I just purchased the downloadable version and I am having trouble playing the DVD on windows media player. I only get the audio and not the picture. I downloaded part 1 and dont want to download the rest until I can actually see the video! Can anyone recommend a program I can download for free that can play this or just tell me what I'm doing wrong in media player. Help would really be appreciated.

Your problem flunkUtron is the program you are using to view the video.

Use:

DivX codec required to view, available for free at divx.com.

You should be able to go to the site and follow the directions to download this particular viewer. It has been years since I downloaded it so I cannot comment on how it works now. I cannot imagine it is much different though.

The DVDs are currently on a truck to the warehouse, so as early as Friday, or at the very latest Monday.

Hi there! Got a question about DivX, Mac computers, and this HD Download.

The advertisement page here on CMoN says that you need the DivX codec to view the downloaded media files. Now, I use a Mac, and I see on the DivX website that I can get plain old DivX for the Mac with a 6-month TRIAL of DivX Pro -- and it's the DivX Pro that has the codec!

Does this mean that if I want the HD version of Natalya's tutorials that I ALSO need to shell out an extra $20 to DivX in order to continue viewing it beyond 6 months' time? Eek!

Please lemme know if I'm reading this totally wrong. Computer Language + Me = Huh?

Thanks!

Witchwater, you're not going to need to purchase anything extra. I know there are divx upgrades for Quicktime that are free to download but your best bet is to get VLC media player.

Very useful player.

If you'd prefer to upgrade your Quicktime player you can get Perian which will add Divx support.

Just got a confirmation on the physical DVDs, they "should" arrive by truck to Atlanta by Monday and then however long to get to our warehouse. Rest assure that we will post news as soon as it arrives, but I will say conservatively Tuesday, latest Wednesday next week.

Hi - I bought the HD Download today and I wonder if anyone else is experiencing some problems with the video:

All players I tested so far (vlc, divx plus, windows media player, quicktime) show me pink colored areas in those areas that remain almost unchanged in the video (usually the background) - once in a while when the video has a new keyframe the 'pink colored spots' vanish and slowly build up again in the background. I dunno if I'm allowed to post any screenshots?
This isn't really breaking the video since the miniature itself gets turned around all the time (so that part is always nice to watch at good quality - but still it's somewhat annoying). I checked as I wrote above with 4 different players and on two different systems - if noone else has these problems I'll likely redownload the files.

There seems to be a slight annoying playback issue on some machines that have other codecs installed. Not to worry, we'll find the optimum way to re-encode this, any updates will allow you to redownload for free.

DivX is all codec with a somewhat great/naff player (depending on whether or not you use the extra features). The "Pro" is just for encoding your own video into DivX format.

Do you happen to know what codec is causing the pink backwash? I too am suffering through this issue and it's more than annoying. Alternatively do you think it would help if i converted the files to another format? (.AVI etc.)

I'm reencoding the source files into h.264 right now which should improve things considerably and get rid of the background noise. It'll appear in your downloadables area in your shop account when it's ready to go, so not to worry.

Ive been trying to get this thing fully downloaded the past 4 days but this problem keeps occuring where the download will just stop at some point for no reason. My number of downloads allowed is declining rapidly and I dont want to miss out on any parts of the DVD. Is anyone else having this problem? And will I be able to get issued more download attempts if the problem persists? I managed to get the first 3 parts down but with only 1 download attempt remaining of the 7...meaning I tried 6 times before it actually downloaded. At this point I really wish I just waited for the hard copy....
