It can be used to store references, although that wouldn\'t be its primary purpose, since if you\'re copying files from the server to your own directory you\'d be infringing the submitter\'s copyright.

What you could do is put your work in progress logs there, or do a mini Blog, or do whatever you want on that page, without ads or CMON branding. You can even have your entire CMON gallery there without replicating it and customise the way you want the gallery pages to show, although there won\'t be any voting controls.

Or you could use it simply as a file cabinet to store pics, sounds, flash, whatever.

Would this web space be used for gallery pictures as well?

For example, if we upload a picture to the gallery, would that count towards the storage space of \"our website\" here or would the pictures area and the website area be two separate things?

They\'ll be completely separate. You just pick and choose the elements you want from the gallery to display on your own personal pages.

We would not use it but that is not to say it is not a nifty idea.
I used moonfruit at first because it is cheap. For you to provide free hosting and for the subscriber knowing it is a safe place is a beautiful thing.

Is there a benefit for you Chern? You already do all this and at times when life takes over added kindness can becomes a heavy burden.
It is a carrot to getting subscribers I guess, but you already offer so many reasons to subscribe...I am thinking too much ...sorry

If it would not cost you on going effort or more monetary investment..yet if it does take a slice of your pie... I would advise people of Freehostia and save your time and money so you do not have more headaches than you already do now.

I think I\'d use this. I like the idea of a way to share WIPs, and sometimes questions or whatnot come up where the easiest way to answer would be to post a picture, but it\'s not something that would fit in the galleries. I have a web site somewhere that came with my email, but something as easy as posting pictures to CMON\'s gallery would get a lot more use from me than it does.

hmmm

i visit/check up on cmon almost every hour or 2 hours (when at work/home and able)...so it\'s easier for me to upload pics here instead of checking sites like photobucket to link my mini pics...

so if that is offered here, i\'d prob use it here for minis/WIPs and other site for other crap
