Personally (In your pictures anyway) I think it looked better at step 4 before you added the glaze.

Nice tute mate!
One thing I noticed thouh is teh grain at teh end of the stock doesn't seem right, shouldn't it be in concentric ovals? Thats just how I see teh cut of that wood...
