It means you sure like taking on big projects.
I wish I had your commitment with things like that.

Is the dolphin going to be all sculpey or greenstuff skimmed ??

hehe

:)

so it has GS under to hold the joints of armature with a bit of apoxysculpt but it\'s all supersculpey.

it\'s done now, but gotta smoothen it, then add the crease for mouth, the hole for air hole, and the eyes (hard part)...then bake it..and sand it a bit and any areas that are too flat for instance, will just add apoxysculpt to fill it out.

the rod sticking from stomach will be gone as it will be suspended via tail on a showcase base, with realistic water all around it (ie. to make it appear it is jumping out of water). the rod is held in via a tube of apoxysculpt but apoxysculpt can bebroken easily if its thin so after baking, i will remove rod, break the apoxy, and then fill in hole with more.

well, i like my engine (kinda! hehe) and this is a gift, so they both are fun (just painful..espec the dino!!!).

Oh..my next 2 sculpting projects will be even more painful and may try a 3rd...hehe

*gives Klute a hug*

Next, I want to sculpt a 12 to 14 inch tall Tarrasque (since a mini has never been made for it), and Borys, based on Brom\'s artwork of Borys, the D&D Darksun Dragon of Tyr.

Also, for a dear friends bday in june (same bday as me actually..the 19th), I wanted to see if I could sculpt a bust of her..chest up...but I doubt I am good enuff to do that, but I may try.

You are certainly getting enough practice in Sanjay.
At least there will be no scales on the bust.

here is Borys

I would do a pose like that...

Estimating 12 to 14 inches tall including the stone base/seat it\'s on...

Well, here\'s something i\'ve been doing on the side whenever i mix up too much GS for a comission. Just an Orc bomba boy... friend doesn\'t like the normal minis, he wants one with a wicker bag full of TNT and zippos and big gunz and all that jazz.

Geez Itchy that basket must have been a pain. Looks like you actually weaved it. Nice job show us the finished product.

yeah itchy, it\'s pretty got, how in the hell did you make it?!

@forgeworld guy. you are a friggin nutter. brom has some excellent monsters that are just screming to be sculpted

oh and klute. which shapers do you use and for what?

i put down the basic basket shape, then a log along the top. Then i put down the vertical parts of the wicker. Then after that hardens, i do the weave. i start by rolling out the GS into a long, thin roll and cut off the length i need to jump one vertical piece and tuck it into the vertical pieces on either side of that one. Work from the bottom up and stagger every other one. It\'s VERY easy to loose your focus and ruin the whole thing though, so just take your time.

Hope that makes sence?

It looks a pain Itchy.

@Freakinacage
the shapers are paint/clay shapers. Rubber tipped tools that are great for smoothing.

Ok, so i baked it. But , and I knew this already, it wasn\'t totally smooth, so after baking I sanded it. And now, all the areas that you can see are a bit deeper, I\'m putting apoxysculpt on it and rubbing over it really fast, to make it try and become flush with the higher areas of sculpey.

Did a bit of sanding this morning and it\'s going well so I believe this method will work. If all goes well, priming tomorrow night (or wednesday).

I cut the main support armature wire for Borys. Not that long as I will make it larger with smaller sized aluminum wire.

Painting the Dolphin I will try and finish this week sometime so that I can get back to painting my dragon and other minis.
