The follow up to \"Life on Mars\" did anybody else watch this, this evening???

What did you think???

All through the series of \"Life on Mars\" the producers and writers said they where not going to make a series 3.

However, they have now come out with this. I know it was only the first episode but there is a lot of similarities with just a few members of the cast changed.

Interested to here some views, personally I don\'t think it will be as good and Mad Moo sprung to mind the way the woman who has taken Sam\'s place is acting at the moment.

Caught the last season of Life on Mars - found it rather interesting. Hopefully BBC America will pick this one up as well.

Do you need to see Life on Mars to get it? I\'ve seen S1 but not S2.

If it\'s stand alone stuff I\'ll catch it on this new BBCi thing.

I missed it - but not purposely - I PRESUME they\'re repeating later in the week on BBC3?

(Cos I\'m not in Thursday evenings)

I only caught some of it. I\'m not sure you need to have seen all of Life on Mars, just enough to know that the characters in Ashes to Ashes are the same ones, relocated and joined the London Met.

I liked it although it did feel a bit thin in parts I\'ll see how it goes.

Also the mad moo in question is bit of a looker in my opinion so I may have to go back for another peak :D

I did reply to this but when I went to send it I discovered CMON had logged me out and I couldn\'t get back in :cussing:

Yes I agree parts of it were quite good, although I think they have toned Gene\'s character down a bit to suite the roll with a female. I hope it will get better though as I felt it was a bit lame compared to the origonal Life on Mars series 1 & 2.

Yes the Mad Moo is a bit of a looker :D marks out of 2 I would give her ! :D:D

As to the other questions, yes I think it is watchable if you have only seen one or two episodes of the previous series as it starts from Sam Tyler now being dead and it is 1981 as opposed to 70 something. They didn\'t say how Sam had died though unless I missed that bit???

I did think the flash back scenes were not as good though it seemed to me that in Life on Mars series 1 & 2 the flash backs were done to try and bring Sam back but in this it appeared that they did not want her back and wished her dead in the future and for her to stay in the past???

I believe there was a newspaper clipping which was about Sam\'s death, with him biting the dust stopping a jewel robbery heist. I didn\'t see that bit but that was the explanation that Philip Glenister gave in an interview I saw.

That\'s one reason why I\'ll be watching the next episode :D

I really enjoyed it. It was unashamedly nostalgic and sometimes plain silly. The good thing is that the characters are well bedded due to Life on Mars. Gene Hunt is quality.

Mmmmmm yes Keeley Hawes, we likes it precious, yes we does! I wonder if she\'ll be tipping any velvet ;)

I may have been imagining it but didn\'t someone mention that Sam ended up driving his car into a river and they never found the body?

Well I have just watched the 2nd episode and I have to admit it was 100% better than the first :D

In fact I was pleasantly surprised to see all the humour back in the series and as for the commentators remark at the end...that had me rolling around the floor in histerics when he turned araound and said \"wel I surpose it is somewhere to park your bike...\"

Sorry but you will have had to have watched the end of the episode to understand that :D :D

Where by normally a lot of things come to light in the first episode they have taken a different view on this and it is only now that some things are starting to fall into place. The mad moo is still mad, she would still get it but that is besides the point, she just isn\'t quite as mad as she was in the first episode :D lol

Feel free to discuuss :)

Aye, Gene said it in his office. Interesting, but he\'s dead in our world. You reckon he may turn back up, eh?
