Asking for some advice

Here is my latest project

This is the 1st time I have attempted NMM!! (hope I have done well). The advice that I am looking for is that I want to make the armour reflect into coteaz\'s face (I have never tired anything like this before). If anyone has any advice I would really like to hear them.

Thanks

I think that\'s a bit difficult on this particular model. If you want a reflection from a piece of armour to light his face, then you\'d need a surface positioned in such a way that light (from somewhere) is reflected onto his face. I can\'t see any such surfaces on this model. Especially not, since that chin guard (or whatever I should call the piece of armour above his pecs) is effectively blocking the path for any light coming from below.

*edit* You\'ve got a nice, strong gold colour though. Nice work on that. :)

his chin guard is painted gold on the inside of it so the light coming down will reflect off into his face off it.

Thanks for the comment on the gold ritual

Aha... :innocent: In that case I suggest giving the skin on the lower part of the face a light wash of golden yellow before doing the highlighting. Then use a more yellow nuance of the highlight colour when highlighting these areas. You might also want to give the shadows in these areas a slight tint of ochre brown or something. Just keep it subtle since this effect shouldn\'t be too strong (not like OSL from a torch or something). Also remember to actually make the lit areas lighter than the unlit areas. It\'s a common mistake to make the light effects the same intensity or even slightly darker than the surrounding unlit areas, and then the reflections look like dirt stains.

if the light source is coming from behind right shoulder and the light reflect of inner left side of neck plate. this might be the area where it would show.

i am not sure about the fur, as i dont have a coat to put on like that to check. so you will have to judge whether or not the fur would have the reflection or not as the light passes his face.
