Different strokes, different folks.

BUT I really have to disagree Tim, seriously NOT talentless.
Driven, passionate and tormented Yes.

I was reading somewhere recently that V.G.V. is suspected to have been a sufferer of Menieres Syndrome in very severe form which could explain several things about his behaviour. Although identified in 1861 as a Disease it wasn't really easily recognised by mainstream medicine in his time.

Read some quotes from his letters to his brother Theo and the poor man was SERIOUSLY in agony. Been through some similar times...hard to explain how bad it is.
Having classic Menieres I understand how if you don't know what is happening then you could be driven into desperation, especially if the pressure in the inner ear is intense.
The only way I can describe the pressure effect I experienced is to imagine a sink plunger cupped over the whole of your ear and somebody applying a lot of force down the ear canal.
Been a couple of times I've just wanted to cry with it and I've been diagnosed in the "Mid-range" effect band, which has given me attacks lasting from 1-2 hours up to 15 hours. Some of the more severe attacks can hit in seconds and last DAYS.
