Hi guys quick question.. With the amalgamation of territories and the whole stores doing first cuts..
what happens if travelling from the UK???

I am planning on attending next year as I always go to Oz for a couple of months every 2 years and was gonna try time it for GD next year.
will I have to get there early enough to hand an entry into a store in time for first round selection or is there a possibility of entering on the day..?

cheers and good luck to you all in the comp I believe brings some of the biggest surprises of any of the GD\'s

I\'m afraid that if you are entering GD here in australia, you MUST enter in the first round at local stores - from there on, it\'s a process of elimination...the top three in each category go through to the next stage, the \'regional\' stage - round 2 - two weeks later. Then again the top three from the \'regional\' stage go through the the final GD day three weeks later.

That\'s one of the big drawbacks of the new format - it almost entirely eliminates the possibility of anyone from overseas entering - unless they are planning to hang around for 5 weeks of course!

Today is the day guys, good luck to everyone.
I finished my little baby last night and I\'m off to enter now. Don\'t know how I\'ll go but it\'s my first GD so it should be an experience whatever happens.

demonherald: if while you\'re over here, you are traveling around a lot you can just drop your entries off at any GW store with any packaging and the staff will take it from there. You just go and pick them up from the same store after the comp is finished... at least that is what i hope is happening because thats what i\'ll be doing.
The other option you have is to just drop them off personally at each stage, but they do have to be there by a specified time or you get disqualified.

Good luck everyone!

After major issues with gw water effect, I managed to mend one of my entries and I took them to the Morley store yesterday arvo (i can\'t get over there this morning).

I might be able to pop in later to see how they went... not sure though.

Woohoo! i\'m through to the regionals!
The competition was fierce with thousands of entries each one better than the last but thankfully a frankly superior paint job and conversion by myself managed to enter the hearts and souls of all that gazed apon it bringing it strongly through to the next round.....
Not really. Only 3 people entred the large 40K catagory and so I got through on default (even though the judge assured me this was not the case)
It was all just a bit of an anticlimax really:yawn:
Anyways can\'t compain to much afterall I did get through:bouncy:
Hope you all did well

Well we ahd a similar situation in most catergories although young bloods had loads of entrants.
The other auckland store was packed supposedly.

It will of course be next round where they consolidate the best from the whole state (or country in my case, being New Zealand).

I will be going to get a proper look at the quality level. I assume that at other GD\'s that the first cut is pretty easy to determine.

@Automaton. Although they say the top three they will submit more if there is a situation where they have more obvious quality entries (not likely in the first round when it is just individual shops).

Anyway here are some pics from the day.

He was telling the truth, apparently you still need to make the points, if you don\'t then you won\'t get through even if you are the only entrant. Congrats :)

Thanks for the pics EvilMonki!

Whats with the big tree base thing? Are you allowed to put figs on a dioramic base?

No, they wont accept that if it does go past round 2.

Ah ok.
I guess they\'d just take the figures off the base if it gets through?

There is no open catergory in the OZ GD.

And yeah she got through in the unit catergory.
I really wouldn\'t make much out of this, she just wanted a nice base for her unit, it can\'t be transported if it gets through.

Congrats to everyone who actually managed to finish their entries and get something in! And of course next year we\'ll have to be more motivated to get more things finished!

Looking forward to seeing the entries in Sydney during the finals - I don\'t expect my entries to go far this year, because everyone else has done some really amazing stuff!

I just finished converting (just minor) a tau battle suit and it\'s all glued up. I going to undercoat today and start painting it next weekend.
So no starting to paint three weeks before the event for me next year!

Brushlicker and Freak!
Very few entries at Sydney Battle bunker, less than last year, next round things will start to heat up :)

Well thats encouraging to know that I didn\'t get through completely by default.
Unfortunatly not sure if i\'ll get to go to the regional’s just yet (don\'t worry my mini willbe there). But the call of all those mini\'s is definatly making me think i should make a big effort and maybe I might get to meet some of you.
So on that note, who\'ll be at Mt Gravatt?
