Production and inventory control were my thing at one time so I notice a few things.
First product in hobby stores is spotty, that means no steady stream of new players and the support that goes with that. Another problem is it seems lots of stock was bought up by big box stores and now it is being dumped on the internet at serious discounts. This makes it even harder for local stores to get or compete. Then there is the problem of get on the kickstarter bandwagon or play expensive catch up. A few have a lot and most newer players would find it difficult to buy in or even find some things.
They have narrowed their customer market and are so busy playing catch up with orders from kickstarter there is no short term support. Everything is a year in advance and in a holding pattern. Another issue is recreating the wheel every season, rather than new box sets they need support sets coming out. Ones everyone can buy into and get in a reasonable amount of time.
Ideas are small boxes the size of dogs or game night boxes. Give each box a unique survivor and a selection of 21 zombies unique to it. Add 3 missions wrapped around the survivor and a few new equipment cards along the same theme (got 6 figured out already, 2 for each season). Anyone can get the survivors, and it helps create a story line for the game to keep interest going. The box zombies would be normal walkers X4, runners X2, and a fatty. Maybe 3 of each, adding the survivor/zombivor you get 9 sculpts and 23 figs per box. Add a few tile sets you can buy (like some of the fine ones already here on this board) and add to their collection. Allow them to grow their collection at their pace rather then in kickstarter slugs. This would have the added effect of a more constant cash flow for the parent company...unless they like one shot deals.
As a last bit, hopefully the next game will not be too far off the core games so you can mix and match.
