Avatar of Aurellius

Good Morning All,

I have been lurking here for some time and now I could use some advice. The other day I picked up the Reaper Avatar of Aurellius. The main reason for this is that I wanted to try and tackle the wings. However, I am not sure how to proceed with them. I would like them to have either an angelic look or perhaps something more hawk-like (I know two totally different extremes). I work mostly with Citadel Paints, but I picked up the Off-Whites Triad from Reaper Master Color with the angelic wings in mind. Any suggestions about paint color for either style and/or techniques for painting wings would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Richard

i would use glazes over a white undercoat to build up the subtle colours.

touch up any highlit areas with an off white that compliments your glazes then if you realy need to touch up feather tips with pure white.

quick and easy, especialy with a hair dryer.

Brush guy has a tute on his web site. I\'ll try and find a link for you but thin washes are basically the way to go. For color schemes look up brush guy in the browse section.

I would value your opinion on this mini.

To me, the armor seems too shiny. I was going to give it an ink wash then re-apply a few more light layers, but I am not sure if a wash will do the trick. There is really no texture to the armor except the gloves, boots, and midsection. I am not even sure it needs to be dulled a little. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Richard

your on the right path with what you were thinking.

use glazes (realy thin washes) to do the shading on the armour and then touch up the highlights.

it\'s what jakob nielson does and it is bleeding well fantastic for subdued and stunning metalics.
