WOW, my first, own W.I.P thread

check it out, my elf hero in progress:

Only a basecoat of Tin Bitz on the \'mail\' and a boltgun metal/blue ink wash on the sword but it\'s a start.

Keep watching, I might even finish a mini this time

if you want to know my oppinion I would say that you shouldn\'t base coat it with tin bitz. I\'d say that you should base coat it boltgun metal, highlight it with chainmail and mithril silver... then you glaze it with watered down ink... 2 parts water 1 part brown ink. then you highlight it with some mitril again

you should give it a try at a test piece at first to see if you like it ^^

Thanks for your reply, but I basecoated it with Tin Bitz because it\'s going to be gold. Tin bitz base, brazen brass highlight, shining gold highlight, brown ink wash, maybe re-do shining gold with very small burnished gold on the edges.

The sword has changed, it now has purple shades on it, probably post some picture tomorow.

You\'ll find that the gold will benefit from a couple more highlights before ink washing.

Specifically:
2 blobs shining gold: 1 blob mithril silver. (Gold is quite weak and a 50:50 mix looks too silver)
pure mithril silver

Then Brown Ink (I water it down and add a tiny, tiny amount of washing up liquid to the mix to prevent tide marks. (Never been a great fan of burnished gold myself.)

Thanks for your replies everyone! I painted the brazen brass and shining gold on it and give it an brown ink wash last night, so I\'ll try to highlight it again today and post some pictures!

EDIT: sad news, I really didn\'t like what I saw this morning when I looked at the model, so it\'s all black again. Thinking of a silver armour now...

It would have been good to see a pic of the \'disaster\'. That way we could have provided a few pointers on what to do next.

I hope you stripped the paint down before respraying. Multiple spray layers conceal the detail.
