Avatars of War Goblin King

Hey, now that I am up and running again after a burst appendix and a wierd damn fungus in my digestive tract (seriously, WTF is that?) I painted this up for a contest over on WAMP. I had one crit to add more stuff around the scars on the belly so I was thinking of glazing the hell out of that with some GW leviathan Purple. Thanks for looking, and here\'s the votey link if you like....

felt good to be able to sit and paint again. This was done in a couple days, probably 8-10 hrs, which felt like a marathon after doing nothing for 3 weeks!

looks good scott :)

try a red glaze, with purple right next to the scar (will help the scar stand out more) before touching up the pale scar line.

I did a few tweeks on him at the suggestion of a few people from here and WAMP. I added some VMC Black red to the shading (Thanks Ritual) and lightened the face and some select areas with VMC Light Flesh to try and add more contrast, especially to the face to make it the focal point. Also dotted the eyes. Good suggestions, and hopefully this is a step forward. Though I did go back and tone down some of the shading where I thought it was a little rough (The area under the flabby pectoral on the right side of the pic especially).

Any other tips?

Much better... really like this model and you really did him justice...

One thing for improvement would be a bit more detail on the details... ok now what am i talking here... i mean for example take the leather belt over his belly. The upper edge could be way more brighter to tell that there is the light from above breaking and making it brighter...

Am i talking understandable? Me is not sure :D

Keep on happy painting!

Jarhead- Makes perfect sense amigo, I\'ll go over the belt and some other areas and bring some more highlights to them. Thanks!
