is it worth buying p3 paints?

Perhaps that is true, but all I know is that those skin tones were amazingly blended, perhaps better than the rest of Fluffy\'s gallery...

I\'m going to buy some P3 so I\'ll let you know... They\'re selling it quite well; liquid pigment et al. There\'s a few reviews around as well as a video preview I posted in the painting section. They do look nice and I\'m especially interested in their whites and reds.

I\'ll probably get the Khador and Menoth packs.

Don\'t expect any paint brand to miraculously make you a better painter all of a sudden. Fluffy can indeed make a killer paintjob with any paint brand so don\'t be fooled by that.

The P3 paints do seem to be good paints, but I would not replace my whole paint collection with them all in one go. If you already have a satisfying selection of GW paints I would stick with them, at least till they run out. Buy a couple of P3 paints (colours that you don\'t have) and see how you like them. The difference you might notice won\'t have much of an effect on your painting skills, but rather on how you like working with the paints.

I have to agree with Ritual.
The paints themselves wont transform you into a great painter. Practise, patience and skill are the only things that can do that. These paints may well suit your style of painting or they may be worse for you, but I think you will find most of the good painters can use any type of paint and get a good result.
There are no shortcuts to learning how to paint.

yeah.. You wont get better just by changing brands, You have to lick your brush:D

I might have a go with them.. but they will never replace my old army of vallejo.

Depends what you want out of a paint brand.

Decent flavours please - chocolate for the brown ones, raspberry for the reds, lime for the greens etc lol

My thoughts aren\'t entirely useful having not used them of yet, but I have been looking around at all the reviews out there trying to gauage opinion. Seems the red and white have fabulous coverage over black which makes them attractive at least (all seem rather pigment heavy in fact). Bit longer drying time, not much shaking needed, thin well with no separation, slight satin finish. Some of the gaps mean a good bit of mixing needed for smooth blends. Not too much on the metalics, a few seem to love the gold but are unsure about Pig iron. (a couple had coverage issues), very fine grain though these settle to the bottom and can need stirring up.

I did read one review saying they don\'t mix with Vallejo perfectly all the time, but that was one post in many. Haven\'t read too much on the smoothness of the finish, but seeing examples of miniatures painted with them would suggest no issues whatsoever, especially with such a fine pigment as to be called liquid. (I read somewhere else that the grain is so fine it cannot be seen by the human eye, hence whyit can be called liquid)

I do get the feeling there may be some bias due to them being new and people actually hoping they\'re going to be brilliant though. I have seen the odd person state they didn\'t notice a great deal of difference.

All in all most seem to be heading towards the initial opinion of a great brand but not worth tossing hundreds of pots of the others for. (Expected though, it would have to be revolutionary for that) Best thing to do would be to wait until they are sold inidvidually, buy a few pots and see for yourself if they go with your technique, no amount of reviews are substitute for experience. At least they serve to assure you that what your buying will at least be of good quality and not a waste. It\'s what I\'ll be doing, probably I\'ll just add to what I have when I find colours I like rather than replace anything. I\'m sure in a few months after the enitre range is out there will be a hell of a lot more opinions flying around to aid in decision making.

I\'m also of the opinion which of the main brands you mainly use dosen\'t matter much, just makes things slighly easier or harder, quicker or slower, at least that has been the case for me.

Why not use both ranges? Try some PP paint and see if it suits. I wouldn\'t bother to replace your GW paints, which are also good quality, without trying the others first.

@ Ainu... the paint doesn\'t necessarily guarantee better results... the only way to better painting is learning and practice, practice, practice :D

P3 red and cream/white look as they they cover fantastically well - even over black.

If they can make a yellow that does that, then that\'ll do me. Unless their metallics are any good.

So yeah, red looks like it my be worth a punt....

sadly the cygnar yellow i have doesn\'t have the miraculous coverage of the reds etc. it is better than say golden yellow but not by huge amounts.
it still does make a lovely vibrant yellow and with your normal yellow painting tricks is a nice paint.

i have used P3s and i can assure you they are different paint to GW. they handle different, need different amounts of water and cover differently. they do need a few goes with at first to get the hang of them but when you do you start to very quickly see their strengths.

nb the metalics are not \"liquid\" pigments, they are traditional metallics.

I have almost the whole series that they have out right now. I worked @ so cal gen con and entered a raffle and got 2 sets and i bought 2. i haven\'t gotten a chance to really sit down and paint with them i may play a lil today. i played with them a lil @ the Con. i wasn\'t thrilled with the coverage on the red. I prefer the Vallejo much better, but with the other muted colors like the greens and such i liked.

Yes, yes I know, but the skin tones in GW\'s line aren\'t nearly as realistic out of the pot.
