In the interests of science I tied a badger to the front of my car, and an otter to a stake in the ground.
while stationary at a distance of ten feet there apeared to be no advantage,
at five feet apart with a bucket of water over each contestants heads there was still no clear winner although the badger did look slightly more disgruntled.
stepping up the action a little:
In a 30mph colision between the badger and the otter the badger clearly had the advantage
( a control otter was hit by a car traveling 30 mph without a badger tied to the front of it, the results were clearly less devastating )
a test at 60 mph was planned but both contestants apeared to have no fight left in them after the 30 mph experiment.
conclusion:
badgers make better hood ornaments than otters.
ergo, my vote goes to the badger.

A man was killed driving off the road late one night trying to avoid two dead badgers laying in the middle of the road.
Them critters is deadly even when dead!
