Well according to my Sharpe's Rifle's books Napoleonic Era Scouts were the predecessors of today's special forces. So maybe not too much of a stretch. I mean if he is playing sneaky peaky dressed like that...

You have of course read the Sharpe's Rifles books I assume.
Thanks Demi. Never heard of them, but the sound intriguing enough that i added them to my Amazon order. Looks like an easier read than the battle maps i had been reading from Napoleon's battles that West Point used to use for strategic training.

Well, if you don't feel like reading you can always check out the TV show version. Of course that was before Sharpe became Stark and had all that trouble down at King's Landing.

Blood, of course. I'm happy to help however I can. You can post questions here and you can also send me them through CMON's private message. And at Crystal Brush we can chat and look at figures too. It's nice to be able to see and talk about stuff in person.

Illinois... it's like the moon, but with the NFL. :)

It's good reading KB. Great page turners and even some seriously artful prose and scenes. He has a really great knack for describing tactics and the chaos of falling cities. Good stuff!

How do the shows stack up to the books?

Go Seahawks!!

BAm, I can't tell you how helpful Bailey can be. He truly takes the time to help you through whatever issues your having with the brush. I find, beyond his extremely top notch technical painting advice, he has a ton of knowledge about the industry in general, as well. I consider him a true friend...

We are building a strong North American coalition. In fact, wouldn't it be cool to do a sort of World War of painting here sometime? I think that'd be cool anyway...

There are a number of us who will be at Crystal Brush, so we'll have to all meet up. BloodASmedium, BloodFather of Kharnath, Shades (he's more active on Wamp, but he's got a thread here too), and probably some people I'm forgetting. There are quite a few people on the forums who live in the area. Krule, are you planning to attend the show?

I am 50 50 at the moment. I went to the last GW games day that was in Chicago, but i would love to see some beautiful historic minis.

I started a new project this past week. This is Arthur from Figone, one of the prizes from the 5th Dimension's contest earlier this year. I used some of the etched brass details from Etch Master's on him. The shield and shoulder strap were added and I also switched out the sword blade. I wanted something a bit larger so it really looked like a child holding an adult's sword. He's pretty tiny, at least compared to my usual 54mm and 75mm projects, so that's definitely a challenge. Since he's a child I tried to downplay a lot of the details on the face. Too many shadows and dark lines would age the figure, so I stuck with the major features. Still need to do a few fixes here and there. The clothing is pretty far along. I put a checkerboard pattern on his pants to add a little more visual interest. I intentionally stuck with pretty basic colors: red, blue, and yellow. I plan to put an emblem on his shield and perhaps one on his chest too. The belt in the way makes that a bit more challenging. I need to come up with something that reads well even with a large section hidden. So, we'll see if I try something or not. Once I do the shield I'll make a decision on whether or not to add one to the chest too.

This might be an entry for the Crystal Brush as well. It's 1/35 scale, but as a kid he's about 40mm tall. Last year a similar sized figure (a 1/35 dwarf) placed 2nd in Fantasy Single, so I'd think this one should be eligible for the category too. I like this figure, but it still needs some wow factor to be a good competition piece. I've got a few ideas but nothing great. I'll see how it goes as I continue to paint him.

Er the white and red dragons of the old merl in myth fighting? Should be good to do a bit of heraldry with.

Wow, I was interested in this one as maybe one of my first "historical" minis but The Lady Inquisitor surprised me at xmas with a scale 75 Attila. I was beaming XD Those checks are stunning. You know, I heard GW will be releasing new Harlequins soon. Perhaps there are some space clowns in your future?

Clothes are gorgeous as usual and the face is definitely youthful. Hair is looking too anime to me compared to the rest.

Thanks, guys.

Andy, not sure I can fit both dragons on the shield, but I might work them into the scene before I'm done. I'd like to work a banner or two into the base.

Zab, that Attila is a sweet looking figure. Very bad ass. I look forward to seeing what you do with something on that scale. Hmmm... well, if the space clowns have neat sculpts then I just might get some.

Thanks, Demi. The base will definitely be an important part of the scene. I need it to tell the rest of the story.

Krule, you mean the sculpting or the painting? I haven't done any highlighting yet, so it should look better when I'm done.
