I had a cockatiel when I was growing up. He was a mean little bastard, at least to everyone but me. I like having smart animals as pets (parrots, dogs), they tend to have a lot more personality. Now I've just got a dog, luckily she's a lot more friendly with strangers than the bird ever was.

That's cool, a protective bird. A cool animal to own, always wanted one.

Your dog clearly has a boat load of personality. Looks like she is posing for that shot! A real cutey!

Owww brings back memories we had a cockatiel growing up, they must have been related mean little blighter and rung like the phone if he wanted something, very smart. After that my folks got a corgie for my sister (10 year between us) gap so had pretty much left home but he was great and keen to please and excited to see you. I miss him when I see your lucky. We have a 3 year old short hair german pointer, he is just starting to be less of a mainiac now. photo to come. .

Nah, 10, at least no stranger than the fact that more people know my dog's name than mine. We'll walk down the street and people will say 'oh look, it's Chloe! And... umm... Chloe's owner!'

Canny, cockatiels and corgis, good choices! :smile: My bird wasn't too loud, though if we were having a conversation near him he'd try to join in and make gibberish noises. He also loved to crawl under the paper at the bottom of the cage and whistle. Maybe he liked the echo, no clue. German pointers are great dogs too, smart and good family dogs.

Go somewhere that has fishing equipment, fly fishing in particular. They will have feathers.

don't be too interested though, we don't want to lose you to sport fishing. :p

Good idea, oistene. However I've already gone with paper ones, so I'll have to keep that in mind for future projects.

Getting back to pictures of actual minis, I've extended the groundwork to fill out the rest of the base and did my best to blend it in to the figure's original groundwork. It's a layer of plaster and then some sand for added texture. I also added a few bits of dropped equipment that fit the scale. I've done the first pass at painting the ground but I still need to paint the details, hit it with pigments when I weather the figure, and add some sparse vegetation.

Thanks, Skel, BFK, Canny, and 10. BFK, I'd like to do a steampunk project too... just need some figures worth painting. I bought into Scale75's SteamWars3 Indiegogo for a couple of their line (not the big piece) and all the extras, but they've run into some production issues and are still getting it sorted. It'd be fun to start one of those ladies after CB, so hopefully they'll start shipping out in the next month or so.

David I stand behind d your models winning more that 1 trophy and you'll see I'm right as usual I've been painting models almost 25 years and in that time I've seen plenty of award winning calibre pieces but never has a painter had his hooks in a particular genre than you with the historicals,and mark lifton with the duels...your name belongs right up there with DaVinci and michaelangelo.naff said.

That knight is looking fantastic. I love all the freehand work on the robe and banner. All done over white no less, insane work.
