Banners different techniques

I was just wondering how people do it, I\'ve seen the article on plastic ones. Was thinking of geting a tomato puree tube (the thick foil ones) cut a rectangle out then get a sticker of some sort with the design on it and cut round it. Would have to cut hard to score the metal, then cut round the design again hard. Peel off sticker then cut the banner out paint as needed then bend it round a piece of wood to simulate the wind. I think it sounds good any1 else?

sounds ok. you can also use putty rolled out thin or paper soaked in pva

You could also try think copper/tin sheeting from a hardware store...

Or...

Actual fabric (Probably cotton) soaked in glue (PVA?)

What sort of actual banner are you wanting?
A huge one hung from a banner pole?
Or a marine backpack one? A penant?

Your best cutting the tomatoe purree with Sharp scissors.........

it\'s a bugger to get a realistic wind effect with foil has it doesn\'t like bending back into itself as such.....
you tend to have to cut to the shape you want........

you can always use the foil to get the rough shape you want and add folds and creases with fimo or GS or (insert preffered modelling putty)

The material they sell at ship modelling stores for doing certain types of sail is excellent for banners.......

i have used toilet paper before, if you want it stiff do as already said and paint on pva, if you want it flexible then just paint on some paint thinned down to almost a wash.

Cheers guys, I\'m not sure what banner I\'m going to do yet seeing as I can\'t paint at the I\'m filling sketch books with ideas etc. Just needed a few reference things for banners, as in which would be best for empire and which is best for orc\'s. Thought that different techs would give a different finish, for me i\'d use a tech that\'d give me a clean smooth looking banner for the likes of Brets etc and a more ragid finishing tech for orcs etc. Cheers for the info my compendium of ideas is growing too large need to make some of em before i lose track of em all

If you really want to metal stuff you can buy rolls of it in various metalic colors in craft stores. However fabric with a really tight weave (high thread count sheeting) and PVA are your best bets.
